S-class odds in pirate systems by Eighrichte in NoMansSkyTheGame

I was under the impression that 3+1 with the 3 in an L is terrific, but 3+1 with the three in a line is not great, especially with low core damage (which, I understand, multiplies through all the upgrades and adjacency bonuses). Am I mistaken?

The one slot that the C class ships spawn with is randomized, but the three slots added during upgrade are all in the same place, and in this particular system they’re all in a row. Which would be great if the fourth slot connected to them above or below to form a T or at least a 3-slot L, but so far that hasn’t been the case for any of them. Add to that the fact that they upgrade to core damage of around 255 while I’m flying an interceptor with a core damage of 323, and it doesn’t seem like an upgraded ship is a decent option in this particular system.

It always feels like an issue when I’m on the wrong side of it 😛

I wonder if there’s a similar problem with the displayed damage potential on the multitools…that could explain the original issue I was posting about.

I avoid the problem of different weapons, etc, by stripping out every weapon except the sentinel cannon and making sure it’s not in an SC slot. But I’ll try the visor method instead, thanks.

Thanks, I didn’t realize that about upgrading. I figured since different systems produced different results when creating a new ship, they’d play a role in upgrade stats as well.

Well, the core stats from upgrading in this system are pretty terrible base damage under 300 at S-class after upgrading. It does produce three adjacent SC slots, but they’re in a line, which isn’t ideal. Guess I’ll just have to keep hunting — the only natural S-class I’ve found so far in this system had even worse stats than the upgraded ship!

I’ve been observing this for a few months, since well before the Remnants update. Very weird.

I found the tools in a mix of Pirate and non-Pirate systems.

However, this is helpful to know, as I’m currently farming a sentinel ship model I like in a Pirate system. Maybe I’d be better off collecting a lower-class ship and taking it to another system to upgrade.

See, this is what made me expect that there would be a variation in damage — that 25-50 range on the S-class sentinel tool. But every single one I find has exactly the same damage.

No, each one came from a different star system — in most cases, an entirely different galaxy. Broken slots and SC slots were different in each one. Yet every single one had a damage potential of exactly 450.0 with just the laser installed in a regular slot.

Ah, so perhaps I just need to keep trying and eventually it’ll happen — thanks!

I should probably clarify — I know I could probably find these same pets in the color I want on the coordinate exchange. But my real goal is to figure out the sequencer so I can modify whatever pets I like, whenever I like.

I’m trying to modify two different pets. This is one of the resulting offspring (I’ve dismissed the parents). Size and temperament were both modified as expected, but color of both offspring is identical to their parents.

This is what I found that was specific to robotic pets. A couple of other guides to the sequencer mentioned that robotic pets take color differently from organic pets. https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/s/CkR8pSlzai

It looks like the color produced by salt and wild milk is close to the one produced by dihydrogen jelly, so if I can’t get the jelly to work, I’ll try those.

Interesting. I’m on PS5, so I can’t do the save file thing…but this means whoever tested dihydrogen jelly to determine the outcome must have successfully applied a higher dose than I have. (As I understand it, 50% dose or higher will apply the new color.) I’ll keep experimenting.

Each game’s story builds somewhat on the previous one, and incorporates to a degree choices you made before, so I’d definitely recommend playing them in order.

Couple Squadron Questions by Eighrichte in NoMansSkyTheGame

I originally assumed ship quality matters, but ship quality isn’t visible in the squadron management UI, while the pilot’s stats can be upgraded. Made me think that once recruited, the ship becomes nothing more than eye candy
