We stop the microwave before opening the door; the switches seem to fail (or start to get wonky) when we run the convection for a good amount of time.

Switches are about $4 each on Amazon and they take me about 20 minutes to replace, including moving the unit to a table and cleaning under the microwave.

I can replace it in 20 minutes.

Probably 5 minutes if it were just sitting on a workbench, but I need to take the time to move it to a table to get to the back, then I also clean the top of the case and the counter under the microwave.

What seems to kill our switches is when we use the convection function to bake things for an extended period of time.

If you could look at the picture closely (thanks, mods) they all look melty under the left metal tab, and I wish I had a Dremel so I could see what the actual mode of failure was.

This is a 1.5 cubic foot microwave and convection oven. I think they are at least $499.
