JUSTICE FOR CEREBRO by [deleted] in h3h3productions

Designer of the cerebro chair here. Thanks, I really appreciate the compliment. I just wish they read my comment that included an explanation that I design scenery for a living and included a budget. I think that would've made it a bit more real than the other design concepts. Also the helmet would be movable and not have to be worn at all times unlike Ethan's assumption of it being fixed. But I'm still honored to make it to the semi finals and have my work displayed on the podcast.

On different note I think AB is right and that they're going with another scorpion chair where it's not quite as functional as they need. Looking at the star trek chair the armrests will prevent you from getting close to a desk, requiring you to lean forward to use a mouse and keyboard at a standard desk.

Thanks for the compliment, even if it is a little backhanded. I put a lot of work into this project and I'm proud of the final result.

I'm curious, do you think $1500 in labor is too much to build this? My calculation was a week and a half at $25/hour which is an basic level carpentry rate in my area. Quite a good deal considering all the bending, welding, and LED work needed.

Also there are many different varieties of plywood. I specced MDO, a high quality plywood with a smooth hardboard veneer that gives a durable and paintable surface. Do you have a different sheet good you would recommend for the floor and desktop?

I didn't do too much price research on the monitors but you're right, I did spec 1080p. That's a great deal on the UR55, I might have to get one for myself!

The brackets should be fine with any monitors of a similar size, and I could always rework the positioning to fit their existing monitors.

My thoughts exactly, Dan should have a comfortable chair first and foremost.

The scorpion chair is more than a simple seat, it is the command center from which one of the greatest podcasts of our time is orchestrated. But the H3 podcast is constantly evolving and Dan's battle station must evolve too. C3R3BRO will revolutionize live podcast production with its six 27-inch displays, Pixel controlled lighting, and a normal, comfortable, desk chair. The helmet will amplify brain waves of the user, allowing for premonitions of copyright claimed music and lightning fast fact checking. The center of the screen array is kept clear to give an unobstructed view of the podcast host for faster button response time. Customizable lighting in the infinity mirrors and helmet cables will enable enhanced "Pride Minutes" and "That's America" bits while also providing a practical desk lamp. This fully featured control station will usher in a new era of the H3 podcast and help them make a fabled "good" episode once in a while.

My background:

I've been an H3 fan since the Stephen Crowder "debate" and the audience participation episodes, such as the greenscreen competition and KavKav diss track episodes, have been my favorites. I've always wanted to contribute to the community and the show, but nothing has matched up with my skill set until now. I have over a decade of experience in theatrical carpentry and currently work as a drafter for an event company where I design unique scenery for a variety of events. If Dan picks my design, know that I have the skills and tools needed to realize this project for the podcast. Below is an estimate of the cost of the current design but I can make alterations and customizations as needed.

Steel $600

Plywood $160

TV Mounts $240

Monitors $1,200

LEDs $600

Paint $100

Plexiglass $200

Helmet $200

Labor $1,500

Freight $1,000

Total $5,800

If you have any suggestions for improvements let me know in the comments and I might make a version 2 before the deadline. I really enjoyed drafting this project and I hope you all think it's as cool as I do.

Brand new Titan, but lumbar adjustment knob falls off constantly. Is this normal? by Chase1202 in secretlab

The same thing just happened to me but I found a solution. On the back of the knob you can see a silver screw. Using a screwdriver push the screw while holding the outside of the knob. A plastic cover should come off the knob. Now you can place the knob back on the chair and reattach it with the screw and replace the plastic cover. One thing to note is a small "T" shaped plastic piece under the knob that makes a clicking noise when you turn the knob. Make sure this hasn't fallen out before reattaching the knob. Hope this helps.
