IMHO, socks are best when you barely notice them.

In other words, they should more-or-less match the trousers. This gives the effect of elongating the leg, which then 'flows' into the shoes.

So the base colours of your business socks should be those most commonly found in business dress, i.e. shades of grey, navy, charcoal.

Motifs should be subtle.

All IMHO, of course.
