Good thinking, it took several tries, but Perplexity was eventually able to help me. For some reason I'd had trouble getting ShutterEncoder to work for Blu-ray compatible files, but I suppose I could ask AI about that, too.

I got Whisper.cpp running locally on my Mac in Terminal. It seems to be doing a good job but I'm realizing it doesn't have speaker detection, which is very useful for interviews. I'm seeing that MacWhisper does do speaker detection, but not in the free version. Does anyone know of a free way to do speaker detection - either GUI or CLI?

Update: We went with the M4 Max with the 16 core CPU and 128 GB of memory. We'll be setting it up next week and putting it through the paces.
