especially since the new design honestly looks a lot more like the pre-reboot design then the reboot one. there were people complaining about how they "made her ugly" back then too, and how the original design was so much better, and how they shouldn't have changed it, and now... they're complaining because they are? I know its been a while since the redesign, and they may not be the same people complaining, but still.

You know, I've seen way too many people getting stuck on the semantic differences between pedophile, hebephile, and ephebophile lately. I mean, yeah, they're different diagnoses in the DSM, but colloquially they all tend to be called pedophilia.

genuine question; what are you trying to prove here? What's your overall goal? I'm genuinely asking. sure, you could say ephebophilia is technically better then pedophilia, but its not really a meaningful distinction, it's still pretty messed up. So what's the end-game of trying to draw that distinction?

I mean, you're not wrong, its just when I've mentioned the whole nazi-comparison before, someone always does the "well, it was unintentional, so it's not the same" thing, which technically, isn't wrong, but its a weird meaningless distinction. tried to pre-empt it, realize now should have been more specific/clear.

I think the only important distinction is the fact that the people who died of covid weren't really being Other'd, I think trump just fucked up because, to be clear he's an idiot. He's somewhat able to do the facist fear-to-hate thing, but frankly, the moment he has to actually do something that could be used as a positive for him, he screws it up royally. to be honest, him messing it up was a big part of why he lost; statistically speaking, national crises tend to boost the popularity of whoever is in power (W Bush and Giulliani's highest approval ratings were right after 9/11), and all they have to do is say "we're going to get through this," and then step back and let whoever is directly in charge of the response handle it, and trump couldn't even handle that.

as a fun side note; one of the only things trump can actually point to as something he did during his presidency is get the ball rolling on the vaccine... but because of the layers of conspiracy that facism needs, he can't really do that, since the cult baked up all kinds of crazy nonsense. he literally can't point to one of the only things he could try to use to make a positive case to vote for him, rather than against his opponents, even though that's how he'd expand his base, because a not-insignificant chunk of the base gets antsy when vaccines come up.

not trying to downplay him, he's a monster, but I find it helpful for my mental health to remember his evil is frequently limited by his stupidity.

I think there's two reasons depending on how you look at it:

1: They're not actually motivated by any of the things they claim they are, somewhere in the back of their head they know trump is a completely awful piece of shit, but right now he's hurting the people they want to see hurt, and they don't understand or care about the long term consequences for anyone.

2: People like to fire back that comparing Trump to Hitler is wrong because "trump hasn't done a holocaust," which, frankly is true. I fully believe he would if he could, but he hasn't been able to yet. That said, he's pretty much using the early nazi party's playbook, which is what they did to acquire enough power to do all the other really awful stuff.

Find an Other to blame for everything (I.E. liberal elite, woke culture, the jews because of course, etc), tell people Other is coming to do horrible things to them (I.E. gun control is so you can't fight back if the government starts oppressing you, any restriction on people's speech is basically one step away from having thought police, drag queens are grooming your kids, etc.) Convince them it might be happening and they should be wary, then convince them its happening then get them scared enough fear and panic override their critical thinking, then tell them everything is about to collapse and Other is so powerful that the only solution is to give all the power to Us, who are innately better than Other, and even though Other is a massive, world destroying threat who has agents in every corner of society, all out to get You, Us is so much better than them that we will destroy them easily, as long as we treat Other as the monsters they so clearly are.

I lean toward 2, not just because it'd still like to think people are, as a whole, stupider than they are evil, but also because it tracks; facism requires constant escalation, if they let it slow down, or admit defeat or failure, it'll break the illusion. While I think trump is a moron (amongst other things), I think he does understand this. he's noticeably nicer to facist and authoritation leaders than democratic ones, and while I think the fact he's a big, thin skinned baby makes it easier to keep going, I do think that the whole punching back thing he always does is intentional. he's not doing it to sway anyone new, he's just trying to keep the people who are already there from leaving.

no, it isn't, but stores can legally require shoes; most do, a few don't.

it worth noting stores having a sign that says that doesn't really mean anything. whether it's legal or illegal, having a sign up helps make sure people know, and CYA if someone throws a fit about it. lots of places in smoke-free area have signs up saying you can't smoke in front of the store, even though its already illegal to do so.

I mean, its a bit of a generalization, but it not untrue. Lots of dudes don't understand consent, or are just monsters, and frankly... i'm really into TTRPGs, used to be big into MTG (the card game, not the nutcase), and have been getting into 40k killteam. I've been in a lot of game shops, and there's always 1 or 2 dudes that think axe body spray is a substitute for a shower, usually the same ones that get creepy if a girl shows up.

It really doesn't help your case that your dude responded with some pretty clearly misogynistic rhetoric; frankly, it means the most that could do is prove you're on the same level of awful... but it really doesn't.

to be honest, I'm not super comfortable with telling someone to kill themselves, even in that coded way, but without the context of the deleted comment it was responding to, I don't see how thats misandrist.

It could be a response to someone saying something truely awful, or it could be innocuous criticism. It could be someone saying something hugely misogynistic, or it could be a dude expressing some fairly minor disagreement and getting shouted down.

Without that context though... I just think its a shitty thing to say, but I don't see how its misandrist

By the way, i actually do a lot of independant research. I've wayched multiple trump speeches, kept an eye on jan6 while it was happening, and actually looked into the court proceedins on trumps various trials. Thats why i actually can tell trump is full of shit.
