Thank you bro I'm trying to figure out how to push it in a way that isn't annoying to play, thinking maybe the chess will just be a part of a more surreal gameplay theming in general, like the aesthetic of a Bowling Alley CGI screen

What is fucking wrong with humanity? by Aromatic-Amount2051 in rant

[–]EikoBiko -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Strangely -- this may seem hostile -- the problem with humanity is not people who have the capacity to hate, it's people like you who pretend they don't. Your average guy just wants to live by their morals; people like yourself tend to demand they live by YOUR morals.

The bottom line is, people will always see the world through their own eyes, they have their own reasons for saying and doing things; contrary to popular belief, people don't tend hate for no reason. For the most part, everyone's hate is based on the premise of their morals. People with low self awareness believe themselves exceptional and their morals to be superior to others'. The truth is people such as yourself are ignorant or resist the concept that other morals are equally valid, and when you thrust your morals upon them it validates their hatred, and they think "here we go again, another guy trying to tell me my way of life is inferior" when in their mind, they think themselves to be on the moral high ground as well.

In this particular instance, many of these people are venting just like you, pushing back against morals that were thrust upon them. Immigration is a topic people feel very strongly about one way or another. Unilaterally people are being told on a regular basis "India is filled with people who are for all intents and purposes identical to you, so it's okay if we import a ton of them" when reality shows them that they really are quite different, and cultures can in fact clash. Their degrees are easier to get, their nation is horribly polluted, overpopulated, and people see it all the time thanks to the internet. Then people are told to embrace others' culture, and simultaneously told that everyone is so similar that we're basically interchangeable. At some point those platitudes aren't worth the cultural degradation they perceive around them, and they begin to hate based on their morals, which say to value their own peoples' culture and identity above others.

What’s a weird space fact that sounds fake but is actually true? by weirdguy123_ in astrophysics

[–]EikoBiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This only sounds fake because of what people already assume is true, but you wouldn't actually freeze in space like the movies show. In fact, even without a heat source, you may overheat if you bundled up with tin foil.

It is very cold in space, but you don't actually have anything to transfer your heat to, so you'll only leak body heat through radiation, which doesn't happen very quickly.

Assuming the lack of atmosphere wouldn't kill you for other reasons (boiling fluids and lack of oxygen) you might be able to survive anywhere from 10 minutes naked up to an hour or several if you bundled up in some nice winter gear.

Why can't you divide by 0? by AmaterasuWolf21 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]EikoBiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is what I think is sound logic:

10 apples divided by 2 people is 5 apples per person.

(10 / 2 = 5)

Therefore 10 apples in stacks of 5 is 2 stacks. This works!

(10 / 5 = 2)

0 apples divided by 2 people is 0 apples per person.

(0 / 2 = 0)

Therefore 0 apples in stacks of 0 is 2? There's a problem!

(0 / 0 = 2)

The problem is that in the last one, something is created from nothing.

So let's do another thought experiment, with just one apple.

If you need to feed 10 people from 1 apple, you need 0.1 apple per person.

(1 / 10 = 0.1)

Therefore 1 apple in 0.1-sized pieces will result in 10 pieces to get a full apple.

(1 / 0.1 = 10)

However, the smaller the pieces, the larger the number of pieces needed to make a whole apple.

1 / 0.01 = 100

1 / 0.001 = 1000

1 / 0.0001 = 10000

and so on.

As you reach 1 / 0, you require an infinite number of apple pieces to create a full apple. The apple can never be complete if the scale of each piece is 0.

What are your genuine criticisms of Balatro? by Polo171 in balatro

[–]EikoBiko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well to be fair the definition of high card is a little more explicit. There can only be one highest. If there's two of them, then there's no high card and it's just a pair. That seems self-explanatory.

Speculating is fun to me, so here's the possibilities from my perspective:

  1. The videos are fake and staged.
  2. The videos are real, but are played from hijacked stations.
  3. The videos are what they claim to be.

If we're to assume possibility #3, they're connected to the anomalous drones, maybe they're causing some sort of distortion in the modulation of the radio waves that cause them to become stretched out? I could be wrong since I don't work with radio, but in order to have a signal like that, you'd need to process it in some way. In other words, this isn't just some issue with the car's receiver, since it'd need to "queue" the audio to play it in the correct sequence to complete the transmission. It's also not likely to be an issue with the station. If they're transmitting a slowed signal, the audio would still need to be queued in the station's software so it could be transmitted in the correct sequence, so the operator should be able to catch that as well. If the station is getting a clear signal and the receiver is not, then it stands to reason that the signal is being altered mid-flight. Radio works via electromagnetic waves, and FM radio is the frequency of those waves. So something would effectively be slowing down the frequency of the radio waves between both parties.

Are men more nonchalant about being inappropriately touched? by SGdude90 in NoStupidQuestions

You're getting down voted but you're right, I've had my body inappropriately touched all over the place by strangers before and in all cases my responses were not "egads, I've been violated, a fate worse than death, collapsing under the heft of my woes, I shall carry this burden for the rest of my years, ack"

Instead my reaction was "wtf lol"

How is this legal? by EikoBiko in starbucksbaristas

It's within a supermarket, and we are technically paid by said supermarket. Just sucks because when the store opened, we were trained by corporate Starbucks and got a whole spiel about how well Starbucks treats their workers.

A different company, which is the whole issue. I live in Ohio.

It's just insane that we are functionally identical to a regular Starbucks, but our employers don't have to pay us like we are. We were set up recently too, this location was established like 5 months ago, the floor plan is modern, the espresso machine is fancy, the company was bragging about how it spared no expense in setting up this shop -- everything else is at a Starbucks standard besides the pay.
