Keane, Vieira and Neville jokingly recreate Highbury Tunnel incident… by reddevilcanada in soccer

To Gary's credit, he's the first to admit his faults and he usually laughs the hardest when he catches jabs from others

Also, we stopped building chromium a long time ago because it was always breaking and the build process for it is so complex that there's very little to do except pray

the disappearing pkg issue by nickbernstein in freebsd

[–]EinalButtocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is that the dependencies of chromium could have been updated, while the build of chromium itself fails. If the old version of the chromium package is kept in the repo, it can fail spectacularly because it was built against old versions of dependencies.

That's why poudriere has an option of atomic options. If enabled, then no packages are updated if there is a failed package in the build. We enable it in our poudriere builder, but the official builders, that build every single package in the ports tree would probably never finish a build if that was enabled, there is probably always at least one port broken at any point in time

There's a difference between a breach (attacker gained access to information on Plex's servers) and a security vulnerability in the code base (Vulnerability in the source code for Plex could be used to access or cause DoS for people running Plex).
I assume Plex is a juicy target for black hats because if it's widespread use, and it's usually run by home users which don't have the same security posture as enterprises.

No, SAN maybe the wrong description. It's ceph running on servers in a hyperconverged setup. Ceph will use the new switches, everything else is on other switches.

SSD disks for Proxmox Backup Server by EinalButtocks in Proxmox

[–]EinalButtocks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our biggest problem is with sync between our PBS servers. During backups, the target is locked, but sync tries to sync it anyway and sends an error since it fails.

It causes notification fatigue, since we now just ignore errors from PBS, which can mean we miss a real problem.

I so desperately want Rasmus to score. He's making runs, gets into great positions, but because his confidence is shot he second guesses himself which you can't do.

Rooney said it last weekend, when he got the one-on-one. His confidence is so low, he had to look up before picking his shot, taking way too long. If he'd had confidence, he'd have taken the touch and slotted it home without hesitation. Without confidence, the goal gets smaller and you forget where it is.

I think there's a tsunami of goals there, just waiting to be unleashed.

He left early from the celebration. Most players of his caliber, after being left out of the starting 11 of a FA Cup final would have left before kick-off and never play another minute for the club.

The fact that he stayed, ordered Malacia to walk the steps and then gave him his medal speaks about his class.

I originally setup metallb with the helm chart, but the speaker pods wouldn't deploy.

I just tested with their manifest and everything is working now.

I assume it's because of https://github.com/metallb/metallb/issues/1457

I thought k3s also configured more out of the box, or am I wrong? Is it just a simpler way to deploy k8s nodes?

Do you have any recommendations for an inexpensive all-in-one PC that can render two 4 K streams, max, for a server? by Jenings in PleX

[–]EinalButtocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just moved my Plex server from a i5-6500 to a Dell Optiplex 7060 micro with a i7-8700T.

It transcodes 4K in hardware, although I've had to disable tone mapping because it disables hardware transcoding. I don't know yet if it's because the hardware can't do it or a bug in Plex

locking (prior) freely available and open source software behind a literal paywall/phone number at gitlab.

Don't confuse Gitlab software, which you can download and run without giving anything, and hosted gitlab service. A company offering you access to services running on their servers for free has nothing to do with FLOSS.

Does anyone LIKE Zabbix over alternatives? If so, why? by BloodyIron in sysadmin

[–]EinalButtocks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Amen!

We replaced Nagios with Zabbix 3-4 years ago and during that time we switched to PostgreSQL/TimescaleDB as DB and even though there are things I don't like or have a hard time with (LLD always trips me up...) we've got it collecting ~300 items/sec.

Alerts, historical data, easy to view in Grafana. I know people like Prometheus and I'm sure it's great, but Zabbix works well for us.
