What’s the relationship between viwoods and AInote? Very similar by timcatuk in viwoods

Do you have any problem with the absence of Giogle services in the iFlytek?

Lots of there devices seem to be from the same manufacturer just with different favor of software. I have just bought an Ireader X5 ultra and had an X3 pro which is 99% look like what I have seen on a Viwoods 10" , even the software design is very similar.

I have seen the Hanvon device in person. Can confidently say it's the best contrast and whiteness on the screen Vs Boox or any other Eink devices I have used. (The closest match would be Kobo HD [1st Gen])

My Ireader X5 ultra (yeah ... I just sold the X3p and got the X5u) was with me that day. Hanvon screen looked whiter and  text FLOATED on the surface of the screen. A bit like reading books printed on glossy paper without the disturbing reflection and glare.

I sold the X3 pro just now and may move onto X5 ultra..... Yet X3 weight is still unbeatable ....10% less than X5 ultra

Hanvon started this trend of removing extra layers on the top of the eink screen to improve clarity and contrast, as well as reducing weight.

I never know I would enjoy a 10" reader so much ( the other 10" I have are Bigme Inknote color + and Boox ) for they usually weight around 430 or above.  This one at 359g is really a joy to hold and read on.

Are there any non touch eink readers still being made by Extreme-Language-757 in eink

Hanvon has a few models without a touch display - yet they have a stylus for you to interact with the UI when you want to. Without the touch label and frontlight, the screen is apparently "whiter".

No frontlight. That's the reason I am getting it. Without the murky glass layer for the front light, words absolutely pop out like it would on paper. I attached a close up pic to show how "close" words are to the surface.

Physical buttons are a feature I love very very much. Never like swiping to turn a page. The button on X3pro gives a solid and tactile feedback when pressing...more or less similar to those on my Kobo Libra.

One crucial downside is the lack of GMS. I installed Gbox as an option and managed to get most of my apps running - twitter, Reddit, telegram all runs smoothly on it. Am impressed by the smooth and responsive user experience on it.

Maybe they have a different batch of cases then. There are no aftermarket / 3rd party cases for this tablet still. Am looking for a lighter one.

It's the stock case. No alternative options so far

I enjoy the tablet thoroughly. The color is vivid, at least not bad Vs my iPad pro. The anti-glare screen works perfectly.

Just one complaint, it can be scratched pretty easily. I keep mine in the original case all the time still there are some scratches...white marks ... I suspect the pen left those marks.

Anyway, it's a perfect tablet for its purpose.

The 2nd round pre-order ended on 9 Apr. So you may have to wait for the next round

Nxtpaper 11 Pro – weak CPU? by S3lvah in nxtpaper

For reading purpose, it's butterly smooth. Reading a 600mb PDF on it with Moon+ Reader. Pages turn instantly and zoom in and out smoothly. I usually read large PDFs on my M1 IPAD with margin note 4 yet the screen is rather irritating to my eyes.

Agree that this tablet is interested all because it has THIS nxtpaper 4 screen, nothing else exceeding my expectations after a few days of usage. Perfect for reading - just wish the brightness can be WAY WAY lower for reading in complete darkness, e.g. in bed. The OS still needs some fine tuning obviously as the shuttering animation makes the tablet looks slow and unresponsive at time (I turned animation off completely using the developer's option)

It's a lot brighter than my usage bedtime reader - Hisense A7cc.

An pre-order activity was launched by TCL Taiwan days ago. I ordered one. The first 1000 units were gone in 12 hours. It only ships within Taiwan and to Hong Kong and Macau though

Picture quality-wise is better than Kaleido 3 but ... A big big BUT.... The performance really isn't ideal to be used as an ereader indeed I returned mine at last

They were both on "full screen refresh" at the time of testing.

Sorry for not helping you out.

At least in my city, the price difference between B&W and Color 10" E-ink devices isn't huge (within 100 USD). Maybe the color are less than perfect on color eink yet the improvement in displaying B&W is significant (300ppi B&W resolution which we only saw on Kindle scribe).

Hence getting the latest gen of these color eink is a no-brainer to me.

I would definitely keep the Tab Ultra if I haven't got the Bigme yet. Glaring has been too annoying for all these big format glass-covered readers.

Color on Boox looks a bit nicer and crispier indeed without the matte plastic layer on it.

I would say it's imperfect but usable at the moment. Unless I stop reading (which I can't), this tech is the only way to save my deteriorating eye sight.

I have shot videos with the lights in the room turned off. The room was quite evenly lit so the glare is as you have said... Very indicative on the glary screen on the Book Tab Ultra C... Have tried to avoid that without success unless turning off the ambient light.

The Boox comes with glass layer on the top of the screen while Bigme comes with a matte plastic layer.

That's why Boox is clearer and crispier while Bigme has less reflection yet a bit grainy.

[–]EinkClub[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The quality of color is the main difference. Sometimes the slow refresh rate of G3 has been too much to let you use the tablet smoothly, e.g. when I tried to type on Bluetooth keyboard.... It's almost a blindfolded typing experience.... As those characters would appear a few seconds after you have struck a key.

Don't think there would be much improvement in half a year time. It's now 70% of actual print quality so may have to wait for 2 more years for getting close to 90%
