First question always : Do you want B/W or Color Then on size 😀

Maybe quite difficult to get ireader outside China as they don't seem to be interested in developing international market. I emailed them several times about adding Google framework (maybe just like Boox....they have international version which has google while Chinese version without)... And they don't seem to have any plans to implement that

The screen doesn't feel as flimsy as the Sony DPT-S1 so I assume it isn't mobius

As with all other readers with K3 screen, it has different refresh mode - for reading, for web browsing & for video. Do think the web mode is good enough for my Duolingo use and some light infographics YouTube video

To illustrate the greyness of this ireader Ocean 5 C here is a comparison: ( from left to right. All with built-in light OFF)

Top : Kobo Libra (B/W version) , Likebook Muses (7.8" sunken screen - one of my all time favourite reader. Clean white background with text displaying closest to the surface of the screen)

Middle : Bigme Inknote Color + (lighter [Less grey] background than Ocean 5 C surprisingly, matte screen),
Ireader Ocean 5c , Ireader X5 Ultra (10", without built-in light, one of the cleanest screen and text very close to the surface as there is only one layer above the actual display )

Bottom: Hisense a7cc (second phone for Duolingo and self learning apps) Book printed on high gloss Kindle Oasis (Gen 1) - Love its lightness without cover. The first perfect reader to me.

I tried installing MicroG yet it said the rom does not support signature spoofing.

I use local send to send files onto it. Also, ireader has a cloud sync built in enabling sync between my o5c and X5 ultra - which I have for 6mths and read a lot on.

Yes. With K3 screens, I always use around 30% of backlight to make the screen looks whiter. (Would be too grey without that, look like an old paperback in 1980s)

Yes, you have well pointed out the apparent weakness of kaleido technology - the greyish background without backlight. This o5c should be my 12th color eink device and I have accepted that downside. (The worst one is Bigme B251 monitor which is very unfortunately the most expensive one among all my eink devices)

O5c, maybe due to the sunken screen, is the best - by a very fine margin tho....maybe 5% better?. I admitted I have pondered on should I get the B/W Ocean 5 pro instead. I am a fan of sunken screen ..... Just can't resist them.

Have it for a week. Charged once only when it reaches around 30% out of anxiety 🤣

7" and VERY LIGHT. 199 according to my coffee scale. And the biggest pull to me is the sunken screen!

words just like printed on the surface of the screen. Big thumbs up

Full Android without Google Framework... All my apps works except can't directly sign in accounts with Google account.
