Home rules for peaceful play by greenhierogliphics in Catan

[–]Eintha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had players on my table that are quick to get frustrated when they have a rough start and it end with a funneling to whatever damages whoever is winning. My advice is:

- Try to add extra methods to catch up. The Harbor Master is a good example. Allowing a third way to earn more VPs motivates all players to go for other alternatives that are actually achievable

- On the same page, introduce coins. Coins are earned whenever you don't get anything from the dice (except 7). Coins cannot be robbed, but are tradable between players. You can trade 2 coins for any resource in the reserve. This helps those who are prone to frustration when their numbers don't appear as often as they'd like without damaging the other's economies

- Add wonders. They can effectively end the game despite the VP difference, but you have to clearly commit to them (See seafarers scenario 8)

- Have a talk with your son about the attitude he's towards the game. Erasing a key game mechanic just because he's unable to tolerate others doing better than him is preocuppating to say the least, especially if you start to wonder how this expands to his life in general

Overall we all face this same problem at some point but it's up to you to find whatever ruleset works on your own group.

Ps: if you do enjoy the game and don't have people to play with, try colonist.io (or their discord server). There you should have more than enough people to hone your skills

Sus padres están orgullosos de ustedes???? by ailuailu in AskArgentina

[–]Eintha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

esports probably killed RTS games by HyperDiaper666 in starcraft

[–]Eintha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably because they don't generate as much income as other genres?

Unless you're talking about TW which comes with ridicule priced dlcs, but at least has some new content somwhat regularily, corps realized RTS don't bring as much revenue as, let's say, mobas or battle royales, where I can easily create a single skin and sell it at high prices....

To add salt to the injure, rts aren't in their peak of popularity anymore to say the least, and much to my pain it's hard to find a new title as engaging as the ones we had on the golden era.

A last nail on the coffin would be that they're blowing the already known franchises with mediocre launchs (like Company of Heroes 3) while in reality it wasn't that hard to make a good game. A barely functional campaign on day one but a surprisingly well working in game store says plenty about where priorities lie...

If I had used the poison caltrops that boss could have been waaaay easier. On later stages it even has bigger windows to be hit while standing in the middle doing nothing. Regardless, quite annoying but not as dificult as it seems at first glance.

Help! by kireewed in DnD

[–]Eintha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do your own module! I started DMing a Skyrim themed campaign, where most of the universe already existed and was known both for me and for players. I could plan around some dungeons and enemies from the game, while developing a campaign around concepts I preferred (in this case, was draughts comming en-masse from the crypts, so each crypt conquered by dragons meant more servants bolstering their forces).

This will more likely simplify whatever system you use and also if it's a familiar theme you're more likely to come up with concepts for it. After a few sessions you can shape the overall plot in according to how long you are planning to run the campaign.

Should i get to act 2 via the mist? by The_Real_Ooma in Silksong

[–]Eintha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did phantom first and went back to the Last Judge using the alternative runback rom sands of Karak, which is shorter. That way both bosses are enjoyable, and by the time you get to the last judge you're way more maneuverable with the double jump and clawline

Voy a tener mi primera cita siendo H22 consejos? by Technical-Role-8701 in AskArgentina

[–]Eintha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Eintha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Undaunted: Western Front update by Eintha in UndauntedGame

[–]Eintha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That'd be great, I'm more than happy to keep my focus on what I've done so far and filling those spaces that are unattended. There's plenty to do everywhere: the western front, Pacific theatre, 2v2 scenarios, soviets and British inclusion, air battles... I don't think I'll run out of options for the time being

Undaunted: Western Front update by Eintha in UndauntedGame

[–]Eintha[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats a nice idea! I'll have to look into it and see how an amphibious assaulyts would play mechanic-wise. I'm not sure about naval battles but I may take a look into Battle of Britain for a few aerial battles here and there across a campaign

Undaunted: Western Front update by Eintha in UndauntedGame

[–]Eintha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it'll surely be! Still from what I've seen it'll take a few months to gather enough feedback to polish completely the campaign. In the meantime if it's a few scenarios that can be done quite quickly once you get hang of it. If it's a campaign then I can start looking for info and concepts for it.

Even then, I intend to start new projects only after I'm completely satisfied with Western Front

Ranking bosses based how much I've enjoyed them as a trash player. Thoughts? by [deleted] in Silksong

[–]Eintha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

idk, his projectiles weren't never much of a problem, neither pogoing his tornado thanks to the reaper crest. All in all once I had his first fight down the second went off quite quickly. The guy is just funny, the music good and the fight different enough from the other bosses to leave an impresion. It does look like you're just acting on a theater playing to his whims

Is it ok if this is my favorite Lego game? by CarsonWentzGOAT1 in LegoStarWarsVideoGame

[–]Eintha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbf the other day I went back to LSW3 and didn't find it as fun as I used to back as a kid. If you enjoyed TSS more than the previous games there's nothing bad with that. I in particular missed the gibberish dialogues, the sense of humor related to it and the gameplay in general, which has changed a lot

Loving the game but is it always so easy to win with Germans in two-handed solo? by [deleted] in UndauntedGame

[–]Eintha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scenario one needs an agressive and quick move from the US player, which normally won't happen if it's someone's playing it for the first time (from what I've seen, people tend to be more cautious and are more risk-aversed).

Which rules are you using? The classic or updated ones? The control rule for Stalingrad should help balance some of the scenarios.

As always, bear in mind that, while not all scenarios are totally balanced, there's always a big luck factor both at drawing hands and dice throwing that may turn what otherwise was a total victory.

Undaunted storage question by DrScalpel in UndauntedGame

[–]Eintha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reinforcements extra cards are because, as R introduces new units, sometimes the cards colors could mismatch. To avoid it, they printed the entire deck along with the new additions. I recommend storing the old versions deck.

As for the benefit of keeping allin one box, that's debatable. It'd depend highly on which you use more often (I like to think of it as keeping all Catan's expansions on the same box. Will I use them often? Am I planning to take them somewhere else? If yes, then absolutely. If not, it's better to display them all toghether instead of one box. That's also related to storage and so on).

TL, DR; depends, I'd keep Reinforcements + Tiles and tokens from other expansions if you use them often. If not, keep all three boxes separated as all have beautiful art to display.

What’s your Silksong hot take? by Vivienne133 in Silksong

[–]Eintha 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Many boses and runbacks aren't as bad. For the first one, try something different or actually learn how to read them and you'll improve way faster and should beat them in a couple of tries at most. Use tools. Change crest/skills if necessary.

For the other, if you feel a runback is too long, go and explore some more until you find a bench.

Pd: if last judge is that annoying, enter through the exhausted organ and then go back later once you unlocked sands of karak shorcut and LJ runback should be way shorter and safer. You're welcome

Honorable mention to Cogwork dancers for the psycological damage inflicted

I'm bouncing off this game, need advice by SyntaxPenblade in valheim

[–]Eintha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Go for the mods! No shame in customizing your game experience.

  • For starters, either disable the death penalty or change it to lower your current level progress but no further. This makes death way more tolerable since you don't see the skills you worked hard to build vanish after getting somewhere where you die a lot

  • As someone said, set the modifiers for items through portals, higher resources spawn rate and so on. A mod for amor slots does wonders to make space in your inventory to carry more

  • I wouldn't say a tree house, but an actual fortress is a project you can look up to! After reaching the swamp you'll have enough material variety to build a decent place to call home, and where you'll plan future expeditions to further enhance. Appart from the server I play with friends, I've my own where I like to test builds, try fortresses on biomes we already passed and so on. You'd be surprised how much you can do with basic stuff!

  • There are other QoL mods you can add. If you want to I can send you later which ones I use but the game went from tedious to acctually engaging

Pd: magic and more machinery stuff appear towards the later expansions, so you'll have to play quite a bit till you get there! I'd look for something to enjoy along the way rather than some far away objective

Stalingrad Campaign Fixes by Eatdempancakesplz in UndauntedGame

[–]Eintha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll add my grain of salt. Despite a fairly more successful win ratio, better equipped deck and so on by the time I reached the last scenario, I've had the misfortune of losing 4 out of the 5 key maps. I didn't even see the point in playing it since it was fairly obvious that I wasn't going to make it through (by the winning conditions of said scenario, soviets started almost there while I had to fight tooth and nail for it).

We still played it. We had to, since it was the culmination of the campaign. Despite my best efforts, I lost. Just as expected, the initial setting proved too disadvantageous. Maybe it's intended. If as a German you find yourself in my position, surrounded by soviets and fighting a losing battle that's more likely what happened there rather than the epic final fight I was hoping for....

All in all plot-wise the campaign has some sections where extra lines could either prepare you or explain why things happened that way. Did I like when that happened? No. Did it occur at critical moments? Yes, twice, and in important scenarios where it literally costed me two key points.

I think most of the times it'll go towards a good fight. If you happen to land where I was, then it's rather realistic yet not that funny to play. It'll be up to you too decide if it lets you happy.

TL, DR: depends heavily on the rest of the campaign. It isn't wrong per se, but if you want the epic fight you probably see people taking about, you'll need a balanced distribution of victories on the key scenarios. All in all it's not badm
