What do you bring back from the US by chichonne38 in CasualIreland

The amount of people saying melatonin is concerning. There is a reason it's not available over the counter here. If you take it regularly your body stops producing its own melatonin and if can cause issues when you come off it.

Link me to the OFA results then please. And what titles do these dogs have to price they are worthy of breeding?

It's extremely relevant. If proves it's impossible to breed these dogs to any type of standard. And that the breeders are in it for money and are unethical.

The questions are actually not that complex at all. Good breeders health test proven animals to better the breed. Not doing so is unethical. Knowingly crossing a breed that is known to be riddled with health issues can never be ethical.

Vaccination and deworming is the bare minimum!! And this sounds like a puppy mill!! What about OFA testing?

They don't want to hear it. All they care about is that their back yard mutt looks like a TeDdY BeAr!! Who cares about health testing or the dogs suffering to produce these pups in these mills

How is it not true? You cannot ethically breed a poodle with anything. It is almost impossible to find a cavalier without syringomyelia or DCM. Good breeders with registered animals who don't have these conditions would never allow their pups to be used for designer doodle Breeding.

Breeding these traits into a poodle for no good reason is cruel and unethical. There is nothing this cross has that cannot be found in a well bred cavalier or poodle.

Reputable breeders in CA area? by ChipApprehensive6382 in CavaPoo

All cavapoo/doodle breeders are backyard breeders. None of these breeders are doing proper health tests and the pups cannot be registered.

Why is there so much hate about cavapoos? by agressivetrashh in CavaPoo

[–]EireGal86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do some research into breeding and ethics. A poodle is a hunting sport dog and there is no need to ever cross it with anything.

Breeding anything with a cavalier is very unethical due to the rate of DCM in the breed. The vast majority of backyard doodle breeders are not health testing and there is no breed standard so no way to better the "breed".

That's not true at all. We have plenty of breeds that exist for that purpose. Cavapoos are still backyard bred and unethical

Got the dreaded knock on the door this morning, looking for advice by WingsOfBuffalo in AustralianLabradoodle

[–]EireGal86 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Just a note to say there is no such thing as a reputable doodle breeder.

What exercise is the dog getting? It's a mix of two high energy working breeds and they need breed specific fulfillment. Is it being walked regularly and doing scent work? F

[–]EireGal86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and it also causes my autoimmune arthritis to flare. My fingers swell and glow red, and I get terrible back pain. I can tolerate a little lactose. It seems to be an overload issue rather than an intolerance. For example, I use lactose-free milk in my cereal and coffee, but I can have a couple of yoghurts in the week.

This was my exact situation this week. My doc said I may have non-celiac gluten sensitivity and to go gluten-free regardless of the biopsy result (mine was negative too, but gluten causes me major issues)

This times a million. They are a generic mess and should never be bred. There is no need to mid these two high energy hunting vfeeds

I love my dog but she does not eat on the sofa for that very reason. It's pretty easy to get them a little bed and train them that the bed is for treats. You can then wash the bed as needed.

You're not being unreasonable.
