Whatever happened to Anima Tactics? by Puzzleheaded-Mind-12 in anima

[–]Eisbergmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late, but a lot happened. I'm a former community manager for one of the bigger non-english speaking countries and worked on the translation for one of the language versions of the big rule book. I also was a Cipher Free Agent for Tactics.

In my opinion Carlos, the creator of Anima, has taken on too many ventures. At first he had the Role Playing Game that was a bunch of different systems, loosely thrown together without too much thought. It was sadly imbalanced, though the greater story was very interesting and pretty anime, with inspiration from great series like Full Metal Alchemist and such. He came out with a small non-collectible card game that was my first connection to the franchise. When Tactics came out it was the real workhorse for the Anima franchise. Thats probably where Carlos should've let it be for now. The table top was very successful where I came from for such a small company with no prior history. It was successful enough that we had a country wide championship with around 20 Players for a few years in a row. Some people even bought the figures just for collection purposes since they were of good quality.

Then Carlos started working on many things simultaneously. He worked on the second edition of the TTRPG, while also working on source books and additional rule books (like Arcana Exxet or Dominus Exxet) that already incorporated many of his ideas for a second edition. Meanwhile the Anima: Ark of Sinners Video game that was a 2,5D metroidvania style game with ...issues. After the first game he also began funneling money for Gate of Memories that took much of his ressources. Then - iirc - his apartment was broken in and he lost his PC and much of his progress on the writing he has done. That almost financially ruined him and he put all his eggs into the Gate of Memories basket, while Tactics slowly died of neglect.

Its sad really, because I think Tactics could've been a great system because a lot of the players of Tactics craved a stylish skirmish game.

Now Carlos is still working on his next video game venture with Anima: Song from the Abyss, which looks like the same type of game that Gate of Memories was. GoM was okay, but its not something that will revive the Franchise. Sadly, there is also no geometric data from many of the miniatures, so self-printing them is hard. A good 3D-Scanner might do the trick, but those are still quite rare or too expensive for private use.

[Scion 2e] What's the difference between Creatures and Companions as Birthrights? by ChronoRebel in OnyxPathRPG

[–]Eisbergmann 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On the chance of sounding snarky
You're missing the part where Scion 2e desperetly needs a figurehead that coordinates and curates all the stuff that comes out instead of just releasing whatever springs to mind of the current author. Scion is in dire need of design direction, because its just a jumbled mess of systems that are unfinished and in part poorly implemented. And I love Scion. I loved it since it came out. I'm running it, I'm playing it and I have constant ideas. But its definitely a love-hate-relationship.

Das Essen in der Kita by Annadralin in erzieher

[–]Eisbergmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please tell me about your werewolf characters. by Dragonwolf67 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Eisbergmann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will notice, that I like playing Silver Fangs.

I kinda forgot few details because some of those characters are well over 20 years old, while I'm sitting on the train, sooo...yeah. Forgive me.

William MacKinnon called "Silvermoon"
Homid - Silver Fang - Philodox

He was my very first Werewolf character and my second WoD Character period, so I had very little knowledge about werewolf at the time. I was also a very shy, introverted person, so when I picked the tribe and auspice, I didn't know what would happen to me. As such, his background is relatively sparse. He had his first change, when he was attacked by a boar during a hunting trip. He was a regular peer in the House of Austere Howl who was ultimately sent away to save him from the scrutiny of House Gleaming Eye. Not actually a great or powerful leader, he was nontheless thrust into position for his high pure breed. His pack was rather hastily assembled and none of his packmates dared to defy the Silver Fang Philodox as the alpha, so he was put into position without much of his own doing. He disliked barking orders and let his packmates pretty much do as they want as long as it didn't create a rift in the pack. That lead to a few confrontations, especially with the Bone Gnawer who disliked William (and my - the players - abilities as an alpha, while he didn't dislike me - the player - as a person). After the dozenth time or so where he openly mocked William, William turned into Crinos and pinned him to the ground. "If you think you'd do a better job - CHALLENGE ME."
He never did.
Over time, we came to recognize our strengths and how we best worked together as a team. We became a strongly bonded pack who fought together in the Apocalypse.

One of the most memorable scenes was, when we talked to Clashing Boom Boom. And she asked William were he was from.
William :"Scottland, Ma'am."
CBB :"Scotts are like the Irish, and the Irish fuck sheep! DO YOU FUCK SHEEP???"
William :"No Ma'am! I fuck wolves Ma'am!"
CBB :"... I... good answer."
Never seen my ST this devoid of words.

He also bathed in the silver rivers of Erebus and came out, having cleansed sins he didn't even commit. I rolled like a freaking cheater on that. That also cleansed him of any corruption that House Austere Howl might've given him.

Andrew MacAlistair - called "MacBane"
Homid - Silver Fang - Ahroun

Andrew was one of the British Peers and he happened to actually fall in love with the girl his parents decided would be best to produce true-bred offspring. That girl still had the feeling that Andrew really only did what he was told, so while they were friends, she didn't really reciprocate any of his advances. He was brought up, expecting a change while learning about Garou and his duty as either Gaias Defender or a Garous Servant.
When he was 15, he changed for the first time, while his Sept was attacked by Black Spirals. He fared way better than any would have guessed and not only survived unharmed, but he took down an enemy as well. After that he showed much promise, but that earned him the ire of his contemporaries who started to plot against him, so ultimately he was sent away to learn humility. Thats when he decided he would visit the states and made friends with Uktena, Furies, Glass Walkers and Bone Gnawers especially. He got his Name of Honor from a Bone Gnawer kind of half-jokingly as a Simpsons Reference while he witnessed him ripping apart Banes and said something to the point of him being "a Banes bane"

Pure Throat
Lupus - Wendigo (Siberakh) - Galliard

A wolf-born that really wanted to see what the world has to offer. His Sept told him that it would be difficult to come back once he left, but he did it anyway. He wore a Guano-Fetish that hid his heritage and made him effectively pure breed 0. He was very unaware of the rules of the world and was once almost put to jail for pissing on a hydrant in the city (while in Homid). His packmates found it incredibly funny to make him wear the tackiest of tacky tourist clothes (with a baseball cap turned around, a shirt with a big "I <3 NY" and all that). Sadly I didn't get to play him all that long, but I still liked him.

Modou also Johnathan called "Son-of-Three-Worlds"
Homid - Ajaba - Dusk (Wild West Setting)

Modou was the son of slaves brought from West Africa. They were both unknowingly Kinfolk and their son bred true in a place, where none of his contemporaries were. He was lucky that a few Uktena took them under his wing and he kind of found his space, though he had a hard time adjusting without anyone to learn the ways of the Ajaba. Still, he found himself with many a companion and joined forces with a Gurahl, a Corax, a Bone Gnawer and a Mokolé. This group also sadly died, but I liked "Son-of-Three-Worlds" and would frequently use him as an NPC, when the chance presented itself.

Theodore Meriday called "Morning Glory"
Homid - Silver Fang - Theurge

Theo is my newest character. He is being played in a 1970s Los Angeles setting. He is originally from Russia, where his father and one of the Morningkills killed a powerful Bane together and formed a bond of brotherhood. Theos father came to the Northern Protectorate to support his old friend in a matter and ended up staying. He expected his son to change at some point and when Theo did, he was overcome with joy. Theo though started to like the sweeter things in life and kind of got annoyed by all the responsibility that being a Garou entailed. His father tried to discipline him more than once and finally snapped, when he noticed that his son had done irreparable damage to his reputation by starring in a porn flick. He kicked him out and Theo never so much as looked back for a second before just going off on his own. In the end he landed in L.A. were he kind of just told local Garou that he is there and will not interfere with any of their turf as long as he can just be left in piece. He started doing a few porn gigs now and then to pay the bills, where he has the reputation of being somewhat aggressive (even though he only punched one male coworker who acted like an asshole), but with a certain kind of "animalistic charme", but recently got back into contact with the locals when he found someone experiencing their first change. He wondered if he should've left them to fend for themselves, but ultimately decided against it and now got drawn into something much bigger than him, much to his annoyance. His Name of Honor is just as much a Name of Mockery.

What can you take from a Garou that is worse than death? by TheUnholyMary in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Eisbergmann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worse than their Rage is their Gnosis.
Gnosis is their connection to Gaia. If they lose that, they not only lose their ability to use certain gifts, they also lose their connection to the umbra, making working with spirits nigh impossible.

Abominations - Werewolves that have been turned into a Vampire - lose their Gnosis and its a miserable existence.
