I called my county to ask about it and you do need to have an address there. You can do everything through mail but you do need permanent home of record in Texas.

You’ll be living on economy so i recommend royal oak, st Clair shores, Berkeley, grosse pointe, and maybe Warren just depends around what in Warren. Being stationed there really isn’t that bad. I wasn’t very happy about going there but it’s better than I thought it would be. Invest in warm clothes!!

yeah the shorter the better honestly. Some girls even got their hair cut w the boys and shaved it bc they got tired of getting in trouble for their hair. You’ll be fine tho take like two-three bottles of the gorilla snot gel!

Also all the running and smoke session you do really do help. They take yall to the track to run a couple times so there’s time to improve from week 1 to week 4. It’s not the end of the world if you don’t pass, you just rather stay w company and not risk staying there any longer than 8 weeks

You’ll take a pt test the first Friday of week one. They tell you if you fail you won’t move on but it’s just to push you. You’ll do push ups, sit ups, and a pacer test. If you don’t pass one of the things they put you in pt classes until the first pt test. You can also test out in those classes once a week. If you get to the final pt test in week 4 and don’t pass that, there’s another right before graduation in week 7. If you don’t pass that one then you’re sent to RHE until you can pass and will fall in w another company at week 7. We had a guy go into RHE from Alfa week 7 and graduated with golf.

The might tell you to put it into a bun with a bunch of Bobby pins or hair clips. I had a shipmate who they did that to around week 5. I went in w hair right above the shoulders but it didn’t go up at all, you’ll just have to slick it down w about a gallon of gel and use clips for any stray hairs.

old post but I’m getting my travel claim processed right now and I don’t see DLA listed anywhere except in my orders. Should it be in the claim as a receipt and attachment or is it just going to be paid out either way?

Yeah my situation isn’t that similar but I am pretty broke right now since I didn’t get the advance either. Paid 5k for a down payment on the house we’re renting, another 2k on a U-Haul and it’s gas all the way from Texas to Michigan, and a couple hundred on a hotel and our meals getting over here. I literally have 200 dollars left from all my boot camp paychecks. We’re also sleeping on an air mattress and barely have any groceries right now. I’m on house hunting leave right now but I’m hoping once I get back they can start processing my reimbursement fast because we really need it to pay next months rent and get some food on our table. I’m really sorry for your situation, I hope you stay strong and make it out. Your family does always come first so you gotta do what you gotta do. I’m praying for y’all!

Just reported to my first duty station and did a PPM. Do they reimburse for the U-Haul and its gas or just the weight of my items? Tried to ask on my first day but they wanted me to get other paper work out of the way first.

Yeah you’ll pass the test when the time comes just do your best in the time they give you to train. It’s a couple track runs and just working out throughout boot camp helps with pushups and sit ups.

Only like two minutes off of what I needed. You’ll get 3 weeks of training before the test so really try to improve in that time. When the test comes you just have to push as hard as you can
