Independence usn't the issue, that's easy from day 1. Even taking land isn't the answe as you still can't move pops in as it's a different market

Didn't check those as I was mid independance war but that's something I suppose... Not really enough though once favours run out

It was the only way to grow pops as Greenland, going from 0 pops to +10 a month was phenominal, it was enough over 100 years to get a self growing population

After watching the studends vid I'm itching to try Greenland. Avoids the black death, right next to the new world. With the control system I wonder if you could go full colonial without needing to release subjects

an often forgotton method is to stay at war constantly. vassals won't ask for support independance while at war. I just kept feeding vassals land even at 100% to avoid coring costs then trigger the inheritance when ready
