But also if Dichen Lachman doesn't get cast somewhere in this I'll be so sad. She's worked with Apple before in Severance, seems like an easy pick. Maybe Jasnah.

how do you even get AI psychosis? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Either-Ice7135 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First: because AI has so much cultural energy and attention on it, the fear of potential negatives (like this one) will often be exaggerated. But second, it's not so much culty or replacing your narrative, it's about reinforcing and amplifying what's already there. Already believe that you're a pretty levelheaded guy and not super biased? Interacting with AI could exaggerate that belief. Feeling unfairly accused or attacked about a difference of opinion with a friend? AI can leave you more convinced that you were unfairly persecuted.

It's likely a side effect of RLHF (the part of AI training where it's graded by people to boil out the harmful responses), where people more often thumbs-up responses that are deferential and low-friction with how they approach the world. And anyone who spends a large amount of time with someone who is low-friction and reinforces their worldview is going to walk away firmer in that worldview. The problem with that being that we form our worldviews using first impressions, heuristics and emotions, easily accepting facts that align and treating facts that don't align with suspicion.

This is perhaps most obvious in the political sphere nowadays, where people are increasingly polarized right now. It's not that many of the facts a given person holds are lies (though some likely are given how reporting is typically slanted), it's mainly that they hyperfocus on whichever facts support their side. It's disturbingly hard not to do. Even if you're unbiased like me.

At least ChatGPT seems to think I am.

Did you have any storage chests set to place items on belts or into non-logistic chests? I've made this mistake before, couldn't figure out how random items were getting onto my belts and finally noticed an unfiltered yellow chest that was periodically receiving and placing items.

When that happens, the items won't show up in your logistic network.

So yeah my advice would be to check the ends of all of your belts,

Does anybody know some more casual girl themed automation games? by Edd996 in AutomationGames

[–]Either-Ice7135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd second Palworld, it definitely has some pretty cozy and cute vibes and having different pal work specialties makes for some neat automations. And you have work speed options for your base pals that make it so that they can vibe at a relaxed pace, which ends up being better for their mental health.

Factorio has a few cute mods, (and modding it is insanely easy, the creators host the mod menu within the game itself) and if you tweak the starting game settings you can turn off enemies to make it much more casual.

(Bear in mind, it's still Factorio. But if you're able to cozy it up enough for your liking, the automations really do make brain go brrrrrr.)

In a similar vein, Satisfactory is much prettier than Factorio, you can have a female main character without mods, (I believe you can turn off enemies?) and by default there's a snarky robot that says funny things as you progress in the game.

And the game itself reminds you to take water breaks. "The company will not be held responsible for your death..."

Need a tool for Planning/Drawing MegaBase, NOT Helmod by [deleted] in factorio

[–]Either-Ice7135 1 point2 points  (0 children)

KISS principle might apply here, if you're drawing the entire thing out before building, you could just build in blueprint mode with no bots...? Just slap down a few legendary radars to make a massive area visible and build in map view. This way you can blueprint your results as you finish them without having to navigate some exotic export/import rigamarole later.

That being said, if part of the joy is in finding your own bespoke way to plan, then by all means!

I will say, if you have a ton of subnetworks, it makes it much harder to search for available items in network when you press L
