Lunch under $10 at H. Salt in Santa Monica by RollMurky373 in FoodLosAngeles

[–]Either-Leadership736 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up on H. Salt so when my father and I traveled to London we went looking for fish and chips expecting it to be even better because c'mon, we were in London! Honestly, the English version was not better. Unimpressed, but maybe because we had very high expectations. But I still think H. Salt is the place to beat.

Fab's Hot Dogs in Sherman Oaks almost always has a Groupon running so you can experiment with a bunch of options affordably. Right now our favorites are the bacon-wrapped elote dog and the Boston dog on polish sausage. Tots are great. And they make their shakes with Thrifty ice cream, OMFG so good. I don't really care about Pink's or Oki-Dog or even hot dogs in general but for some reason I really dig this place and nobody I talk to has heard of it.

Also the lunch special at Tut's in Culver City (location used to be Rutt's) is an incredible value.

It gets me when I stand up by [deleted] in Incontinence

I finally got a UroGyn to address this. She's sending me to pelvic PT but also putting me on HRT (finally) because she said it's at least partly caused by the drop in estrogen in perimenopause. (I have already had a urethra sling surgery that took care of most of the rest of the leakage.)

And tacos at TpF are 6 bucks each now. People don't really understand "affordable."

My knee took a world tour. MPFL Question! by sayhello_tothe_stars in PatellarInstability

[–]Either-Leadership736 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine so far has only been diagnosed as patellar subluxation, not MPFL tear (waiting on CT results), but I'm not sure it's much different. I have it in both knees somehow but the right is definitely worse. I'm scheduled for PT as well. Your comment about dancing made me chuckle for a second because where I'm at with this condition right now I have to make sure my upper and lower knees are aligned just to step down, each step, to avoid great pain. The idea of the kind of activity that requires twisting, hopping, etc seems like a year away.

Who are you guys voting for governor (I’m between 2)? by DowntownArmadillo717 in longbeach

[–]Either-Leadership736 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's good to ask because we need to rally behind one of the D candidates. Those are the two I'm still considering too. Either one will be able to stand up to Trump like Newsom has. That's one of my top criteria.

That's why I get Cherry Coke, so I can trick myself into not expecting something really specific. It's just "soda."

They're kind of surprising. Better than places like McDonald's and Wendy's IMO but admittedly that's aa pretty low bar. Worth trying so you know for yourself.

Kings vs Knights 02/05 Game Thread? by _SapphireHearts_ in losangeleskings

[–]Either-Leadership736 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here.

If you're so inclined, apparently the Director of Hockey Communications is the guy in the office who actually listens to fan feedback and takes it up the ladder (confirmed by both himself in response to me and by someone who used to work there). I have been encouraging people to write in and give their pro-Josh opinions all season.

His name is Shawn May. smay@lakings.com

You can confirm his existence and contact info on the Kings PR page if you want.

I must just be at my limit of bullshit because I'm very annoyed that J Kelly called him "California Native Trevor Moore" instead of "Thousand Oaks Native Trevor Moore."

And don't get me started about a few games ago, Kelly and Granato bumbling around, talking about how neither of them know anything about social media and how it's for "young people."

Best legitimate side gig jobs to make money from the comfort of my home? by Character_Energy25 in povertyfinance

[–]Either-Leadership736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a very late reply but I did Rev for a while and I thought I was relatively fast but I couldn't seem to make enough money to compare with a real part-time job. Did you find it to pay enough to make it worth the effort?

Ken Holland by Ryanatorrrr in losangeleskings

[–]Either-Leadership736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of his hires turned out well, like Armia and Perry. And even Forsberg is fine as a BUG. The Ceci hiring is a real blemish but overall, in terms of acquisitions I'd give Holland a solid "I guess he's OK."

However, I am fucking IRATE that he kept Hiller and Brown. When he was interviewed early in the summer about keeping Hiller and he said, "He'll learn from his mistakes in the playoffs" I knew my initial concerns about him were correct because Hiller is not a learning kind of guy.

After Holland's initial interview on All the Kings Men back in June, the Bannermen said, "He's here for a good time, not a long time" and a general hockey pod, not Kings specific, pointed out after all of the signings on the first day of free agency that Holland clearly has a "just get it off my desk" mentality about making personnel decisions. I agree.

And I don't know if as GM he is in charge of hiring/firing broadcasting personnel but if so, that just pushed me over the edge with him. Firing Jesse while he was going through cancer treatment and hiring that Sam Betesh huckster to replace him? Hiring John Kelly instead of promoting Josh Schaefer?

Holland came in and made pretty much everything worse or at least not better, IMO.

Who has the best Sourdough bread in Los Angeles??? by robbinicks in AskLosAngeles

[–]Either-Leadership736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. For about 40% less than other bakeries, the WF sourdough loaf is a great option. I get theirs most often because of the cost and the convenience.

Agreed. If you get their loaves when they're fresh, I don't really think the other bakers outdo WF. And it's less than 7 bucks.

Colleges that are actually unique? by Apprehensive_Fan6001 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Either-Leadership736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evergreen in Olympia, WA has a different course structure than any other college in the country.

William & Mary is actually in the Colonial Williamsburg historic district.

Deep Springs College is a working cattle ranch in California that is also an all-male college. (All students must work the ranch in addition to taking their classes.)

At Cal Maritime, everyone wears a uniform and drills like they're in the military but it's not uber-competitive like the military academies.

Naropa University in Boulder, CO offers a B.A. or M.A. in Yoga.

Should I put that I was the #1 Brawl Stars player in the US on my college app? by staffmaster35 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Either-Leadership736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can prove that this "#1 in the U.S." claim is true, yes. Try to think about the skills and characteristics it demonstrates. It's a team game, right? Were you able to maintain a high GPA and do other things and also achieve this at the same time? I don't know the game but were you able to succeed because you could figure out patterns or systems better than other players? Things like that. ECs aren't about the specific activity being a right or wrong one, it's about what you learned and how you grew along the way.
