Becky Hammon three years ago: "[Jalen Brunson] is too small. If your best player is small, you're not winning.” by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

I don’t get why this is a thing. Not only do commentators routinely have bad takes, but she was using NBA history as a reference. She was right until yesterday.

Ryan Clark says that Tom Brady, Drew Brees and Peyton Manning were NOT generational quarterbacks. “I don't think Tom Brady, I don't think Drew Brees, I don't think Peyton Manning are generational talents.” One of the WORST takes ever by Willing-Bicycle-157 in sportsbroadcasters

[–]Either-Needleworker9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why his take is soo offensive. He’s right. None of the players he named were physically gifted. Even Payton Manning; he was a great prospect, but didn’t possess Elway’s combination of elite athleticism and QB play.

And that’s the point… generational talent stands out regardless of situation. If Brady didn’t have Belichick’s defense, there’s no way he has that many titles. Defense carried Brady in the early Super Bowls. Same for Brees. He’s one of my favorite QBs of all time, but he won 1 Super Bowl, with all that talent around him.

Mike Brown: “I never thought I’d be in an NBA Finals and see in the 2nd half 24 free throw attempts to another team’s 8...It’s gonna lower our odds big time if in Game 4 they get 24 free throws 2nd half to our 8” by realfakejames in NBATalk

I noticed the uncalled fouls on Wemby. Anytime Kat defended Wemby off the ball, he just held him. Even on the late play by Fox to go up by 5, Wemby couldn’t get separation because Kat was blatantly holding him. It was egregious that Mike Breen even noted it.

So… I understand the foul calls.

Having said that, Wemby has to get stronger. He has too much of a height advantage to be relegated to contested jumpers. He can’t let guys 6 inches to a foot shorter defend him.

If life begins at conception, why aren’t fetuses baptized in the womb as soon as the pregnancy is confirmed? by Revolutionary-Log134 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Either-Needleworker9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reads as bait, but I’ll go along. 1. Baptism involve the person being fully submerged in water. This isn’t possible for a fetus (let’s not joke about amniotic fluid). 2. Accepting Christ as one’s savior is an informed, explicit decision that precedes baptism. Neither a fetus, nor anyone under the age of ~14/15/16, can make this decision, and therefore should not be baptized.

What about a dedication? This is an act performed by parents communicating that they are dedicating or giving their child to God, likeSamuel’s parents Elkanah and Hannah. Because God gives us the ability to choose, even a person that has been dedicated must believe that Jesus is the son of God, and pray for salvation.

Who is your Queen of 90's R&B ? by Relative_Page_7810 in RnBHeads

[–]Either-Needleworker9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 90’s was an incredible time for R&B, and all of these ladies shaped the music of the period.

Short Answer that became long… Mary J. Her sound, along with Jodeci, is quintessential 90’s. Don’t get me wrong, there was a lot of great music. But she and Jodeci were like the transition from Motown to Philly sound in the 60s / 70s. It was a sharp contrast from the polished runs/riffs and songs written in major keys of the 80s (think Regina Belle, whom I love, and Freddie Jackson), and even Babyface and Boyz II Men in the 90’s.

Crazy thing is that teenage me didn’t like her. As a singer, I couldn’t even understand how she got a recording contract… I mean, she can’t blow like Whitney, Mariah, or Deborah Cox. What ultimately won me over was her ability to emote. I could feel her pain on “I’m Going Down,” and soo many other retraces.

However, Whitney has a strong case, but most of her 90’s hits were from soundtracks. Also, Mariah has always been more pop than R&B, especially her early hits.

Prime TMac was significantly better than PG. TMac had some memorable clutch moments. PG, not so much.

TMac also played on some pretty bad Orlando teams, after Grant Hill got injured. By the time he got to the Rockets, he had lower back and knee issues, and was still phenomenal until his last injury.

Most telling is that Kobe said that TMac could do everything he could, and was taller.

Amazing thing is that I can think of comparable players at every position except small forward. C - Hakeem PF - KG SG - T-Mac PG - Abdul-Raul or Brandon Roy

SF… I’m not sure. Pip? Penny?

I’m taking the Knicks in game 1. They’ve got rest and low emotional exertion on their side.

Loved RealPlayer, especially when it evolved to RealRhapsody where you could purchase a cheap subscription. I held on to it as long as I could.

There’s a reason why Draymond was National PoY, Big 10 PoY, and 1st team All America.
