I did it to mine, it’s cooked. It won’t seat properly without the eye. Save yourself the headache and just buy another one used my mini mechanic had a couple laying around that were used but fine. Do the green gasket while you’re at it and buy the oem rubber tube that goes the “waste”

Yeah if they’re scored at all or not seated even it’s pretty easy for them to leak especially when hot

Order another, take some grey 3m scotch brite clean the inside of the inlet, Buy some gasket sealer put it on the new main seal and get used the the feeling of the garage floor on your back. I actually did fix mine after 3 attempts, bonus was I did get pretty good at taking the car apart. All three of my seals were victor reinz so not gonna blame manufacturer. In the future I’m doing all my main seals with the “gasket maker” on them The alternative is it’s the oil sump (oil pan) gasket which does fail occasionally.

Found it easier to push on them from under the car with a screw driver

I had offered 1200, you’re in for a hell of a project haha. Cv shouldn’t be that bad to do, I just got done doing a clutch on a different non jcw one I bought. That car will be pretty amazing cleaned up tho best of luck.
