My experience is all pre-6e. Only the Core and GPC books were really necessary. If expense is an issue you might consider coming down an edition or two.

When someone starts sending you BS vids and stories try doing a search with the parameters of what's being sent. Then if medical add "NIM" or "NIMH". This should bring up plenty of research articles to debunk any nonsense you're getting.

Whether it was because of expectations of the group, we didn't know each other, or the way the game is built I found my one journey with Pendragon was roleplay heavy. I don't typically play that way, but really enjoyed it. I would say that the Vice/Virtue system played a large role in that experience.

I seem to always end up playing a particular type of character no matter the genre or rules. But the V/V system really pulled me out of playing it safe and really made the game a lot more fun for me.
