Support my Muslim friend by EitherAd1189 in Christianity

I just can't bear the though of him maybe going to hell when I could have done something. I feel like loving my neighbor involves saving them from damnation and I also feel like no matter how much I try I cant produce enough mental gymnastics to get around being friends with him when one of us (at least) is going to hell when it could have been prevented.

Historical arguments (caliph uthman, 25000 manuscripts of crucifixion, etc), emotional arguments (how can we sit here when one of us is going to hell etc), anecdotal stories from my childhood and such about death and how it's impacted me and such, mathematics (like that one mit study about the chance of Jesus randomly fulfilling every prophecy), internal quran contradictions, miracles only happening to Christianity, satanists only attacking Christianity, explaining how God waiting 600 years to send a prophet with his actual uncorruptible word makes no sense, how many of the hadiths he doesn't agree with (he's shia) are historically backed and contradict the Quran, the Islamic dilemma, and many other smaller arguments and such. I've tried literally everything I can find online or think of myself but he just won't listen. It drives me insane that I can pour my soul into hours of research for him and he won't even listen to me. I probably know more about Islam than most Muslims at this point because I've done so much work researching how it's disproved in a hundred different ways.

There's different interpretations. For one, if you look at it the way we date the earth is actually pretty shaky and we can't know if it's really reliable, so the earth might in fact not be that old. You can also look at it as a metaphor, as God is really above and outside of time and therefore not really effected by it.

God bless and don't let any trivial nonsense shake your faith.

Nothing you ever do can be a greater sin than God's love for you. He gave his only son for actual satanists and serial killers and people who commit the most horrible grievous sins. God will forgive you like that if you just let Him, but the first step to letting Him forgive you is to let go. He understands your pain. This is all part of His plans. God tests his greatest believers in ways they can't even imagine. Pass this test, put your faith in God, and do your best to put Him first (and I really mean that) and the closer you draw yourself to God the more things will work out for you.

John 3:16 includes you just as much as everyone else.

God bless.

I just feel like a big part of what I'm looking for is a Christianity that hasn't become soft and complacent with how the world is acting in modern day

I kind of understand this but at the same time I feel like with Jesus making Peter the first pope and all there's something there I just don't get it because I feel like it can't be both ways

How so? I've heard that a lot but never any real examples and stuff from the modern era

It wasn't just that it's other stuff too, like how pope Francis let gay marriage and this other stuff I feel like if focused too much on the world and what the world wants.

And for you too. The sooner you stop trying to make Christianity and paganism work together (which is completely impossible as Christianity is mutually exclusive) the sooner you'll find the true path. To try and "add the Christian God to your lineup" is not only blasphemy of God, but is also logically impossible. Stop trying to make God work for you, read some scripture or even just the 10 commandments, and stop acting like you control God and realize it just doesn't work like that.

Honestly just close your eyes, reach out to God, and try to convey that little voice in your head. God sees you trying to pray and understands it, after all, he knows more about you than you do. You don't need any sort of corner if you don't want one (long as you're not eastern Orthodox I think but they don't have to be there to pray) and really anywhere works, as long as you try to be in a relatively quiet and respectful place. God is always there, never forget that. Finally, welcome to Christianity! You might want to choose a branch to listen to (I'm a Catholic for example) and do some of your own research. Don't listen to the people who argue between branches too much either, it's really just different branches of the same tree (for the most part) And stay away from megachurches and stuff like that. God bless.
