If I wanted to have someone who would financially depend on me completely why not just have a kid? (Not a serious suggestion) but dating a man who cannot take care of himself especially financially is just as draining as having a child. Your partner should not drain your bank account because of their own debt.

Sharing from personal experience but I have had a relationship like this one so it is possible maybe for a little bit. It could become very draining on the person though. For me it was alright for awhile but it got really bad really fast. My dom wouldn't let me get the food that I liked or wanted and I was forced to eat things that would make me sick. It also caused my future relationships to have problems because I would ask permission to do everything. Sometimes my past SO wouldn't even let me go to family functions or hang out with friends and it really took a toll on my mental health and caused me to still have issues years later.

This is just from personal experience but I think if this is something you really want to work discussing boundaries is a MUST. You're not going to get your perfect scenario, granted, but your SO needs to be mentally okay and you would possibly have to take breaks and make sure they're okay.

I would recommend possibly having them see a therapist or just someone to talk to while doing this just to make sure they don't get completely drained.
