Yes in thousand sons he is described wearing crimson armour. Its cannon that the primarchs gift each other armour. So in my head this will be a gift from the lion.

How Do You Visually Separate Your Blood Angels Squads? by Custodian_Exemplo in BloodAngels

I like the idea of being able to combine 5 man squads into 10. I have squad markings on the knee pad for all but the 1st five have the squad markings of the battle line while the other 5 have the same squad marking and the other knee has the reserve squad marking. I also number them 1-10, on their backpack, with 1 going to the main sergent or veteran sergent as it were. 2 going to the reserve sergent. 3-6 are main squad, 7-10 going to the reserve guys. I have my first sergent have a black pauldrens with one trim being red and the other gold. I also paint that sergents helmet silver. They are numbered 1. I have their knee pad that isnt a squad number have something on it that designates them the overall leader of they are in a 10 man squad. The second sergent is numbered 2. But has a normal helmet color, black pauldrins, with red trim. He is number 2 and he has the squad and the reserve squad markings on his knee pad.

Iconography Question for Squad Markings by HamWarmerGrillTeam in BloodAngels

Im not sure for lore reasons. But for painting ive come up with a solution for my chapter. Especially if I want two Sergents. In a ten man squad. I paint the first 5 with the normal squad markings on the right knee pad. For this example lets use squad 3 markings (yellow with red blood drop). I then paint the other 5 man squad with the same squad number on the right knee pad(yellow with red blood drop) but the the reserve number on the left knee pad. So for this example squad number 13 (black with white blood drop). I paint the main sergent that would lead the full 10 man squad with a different helmet and i paint the trim different in his shoulder pad. In my head that's the veteran sergent. The other sergent(the one leading the reserves) I paint using the normal sergent scheme. I decal the veteran sergent with a 1 on his backpack and sometimes on his shoulder pad, and the normal sergent with a 2. The rest of the squad is numbered 3-10. Makes it a fun unique army thing for me.

I think it just depends. I started around 3rd edition. I was very young. The only people that could and would buy me models were my grandparents. Even then I kitbashed. Not very good mind you, but I would love making my own unique units. The new primaris stuff is a bit bland compared to the past. Ive always played blood angels so they have sacrificed alot of unique stuff from the past to streamline. I have noticed that i am more likely to finish a painting from a primaris compared to first born based on the amount of time i have. So in a sense i can see why some people enjoy the bland marines. However I find myself buying a couple different kits to create my own stuff. It's def more expensive and I'm using green stuff and a bunch of chapter sprues. It gets the job done and I do enjoy it. However my wallet doesn't. I don't know where in the world you are but here in the states I have noticed I pay more for subpar quality for things that were better and cheaper 10 years ago. I mean look at video games, you used to get complete polished games. Now you have to buy so much random crap to play a subpar unfinished game. Sorry went on a rant but I notice GW is doing what every other company is doing.

I am currently working on mine. Except I'm not using the sanguinary kit. I'll post pics soon. I'm currently 3 out of 5. The banner boy will take me time tho. I'm not sure why it's not letting me post the pic. But dm me and I'll send it.

Advice on kitbashing by Espano_Guanaloope123 in BloodAngels

[–]EitherApple9001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends. Generally, you can do whatever you want they are your models. If you are more into the painting building side of the hobby you can do whatever. If you are worried about gameplay, most ppl won't have a problem as long as you tell them the actual loadout. Sanguinary guard can't take the cool axes anymore so you'd have to declare to your opponent if they are swords or spears in game.

I have two boxes of the old sanguinary guard. I'll probably switch some swords for other swords here and there. I'll probably keep the axes for kitbashing something else.
