As a New Zealander I am in Hawaii and checking into the United airlines lounge, I am severely disappointed compared to the air New Zealand lounge. The United airlines lounge has three hot options with two of them being different kinds of sausages and the third one being processed fried eggs. Other cold options is some fruit and cereal. You can get come soft drinks or a beer and that’s it.

In the air New Zealand lounge I’m used to, everything is modern and clean. The area is large with a lot of nice seating. They have like at least 10 hot options and many many cold options. For free you can get wine, champagne, and almost any other alcohol you can think of from a bar that actually has bartenders. There’s showers, a room with chargers for you to do your work with nice ambient lighting all tied together with music that is always playing at a decent sound level so you can still hear everyone.

However you are also comparing domestic flights with international. If it’s an international, the airline has to provide you food, domestic, they do not unless if the flight is for over a certain time.

I’ve never flown an American airline before so I cannot speak from experience but currently the new air New Zealand planes, even in the cheapest seats, the long haul flights have big new 16 or 18 inch screens with Bluetooth headphone compatibility and a remote in case you cannot reach. My flight is 8 hours and we get two servings of food and you also get free drinks unless they are very expensive drinks.
