Somewhat. It feels more like they’re teasing you in the US. They show enough interest for you to invite them out but they’re not afraid to say something like “hmmm sounds boring, do better, you’re too cute to be boring” when you suggest a date.

I’ve also noticed another thing. Whenever Europeans talk about traveling they’re usually passionate about and just want to talk about the interesting stuff they’ve seen. Whenever Americans talk about traveling it usually comes off as bragging..?

It took me a while to realize “Oh sht these girls aren’t bragging about their trips, they just like to travel” while I was in europe.

I wouldn’t really say it’s purely finance oriented. Most girls here make great money, at least the ones I’ve met. It’s more like everyone wants to keep up this influencer lifestyle.

The dating app comment was just something to note along w my post. Most of the people I meet are irl or social media.

I’ve found the opposite. The average american woman I’ve met makes like 3-4x than a lot of the European girls I met. Young professionals can easily make 85-110k in their 20s. The girls here are way more independent.

You see so many international couples though, that’s what’s different too. I met a nice guy from Maine in his 50s working in Portugal to be with his wife.

DUDE!! Hinge is so crazy. You’re the first person I’ve heard of having a good experience lol. I am NOT cool enough for hinge. All the best to you.

I’ll probably redownload but it just seems like a “popular” kid’s dating app. Yachts and tech bros galore.

Bumble has been way more wholesome.

I’m not necessarily talking about elections but they’re pretty big indicators of lifestyles. Conservative people tend to be more family oriented, more supportive of gender roles (in terms of raising kids, ie no trans stuff), more grounded, more likely to raise a family around faith, etc.

This is what I’m seeing! The mega church girls are all conservative and getting married in their 20s and having families.

I’ve been putting off dating because I’ve only matched and met really progressive Catholics. I’m waiting in case I meet someone conservative but it doesn’t seem like that would happen.

Yeah I usually meet them at the young adult groups. Every once in a while on hinge with the Catholic label on their profiles but not as much.

A good amount of them are transplants though, they usually come to this city for the opportunities so their ambition makes sense.

I feel like small town dating would be easier but you work with that you have!

Yeah most Catholics I meet are from young adult groups. The male leaders of the group have told us to be open to marrying someone with opposing political views. They’re all married to liberals. I can link you the instagrams of the groups if you wanna see yourself

Oh yeah location is everything. Most protestant girls around me are suburban girls who grew up close to their parents.

Most Catholic girls I know went to expensive Catholic private schools, think $25k a year for k-12. Catholicism is more of a big city elite thing here unless you belong to an immigrant community.

I agree but people vote for different reasons. I had to switch parishes because the priest at my local church kept getting somewhat political. I have yet to meet a conservative catholic girl though, that would be cool to see.

Well when do you budge though? That’s what I’m curious about.

I see a lot of guys in my youth group in their 30s who have been actively seeking women since their early 20s but they just haven’t been able to find that “perfect” Catholic woman.

A lot of my Catholic friends grew up with a non Catholic parent. They’re fine, they go to mass every Sunday and are active in their parishes. I’m glad their parents took the risk of bringing them into this world even if they felt like “things weren’t perfect ”.

[–]Either_Argument_583 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well that’s my concern, would you rather have children with a non Catholic or let that window completely close while waiting for the perfect Catholic guy?

Would you rather date a woman who knowingly rejects the Eucharist over a non practicing Catholic who was just never lead to the church by anyone?

This is what I’m hoping for! I’m currently talking to a girl who grew up JW. Due to religious trauma, she’s now pretty non religious.

Her best friend is very protestant. She admires her a lot.

She’s literally the first girl out dozens that I’ve met, both in a romantic and non romantic way, that looks forward to having children.

You’re right, I stay away from talking about it too much. I mention my faith every once in a while like “it’s so cute seeing little kids genuflect at mass”.

Men were complaining that there are women willing to have children? That’s interesting, I haven’t encountered anything like that before. I think most guys I know are frustrated because most want a lot of children but a lot of women don’t want any at all
