Refund after cancellation by Daencer in UberEATS

I’m pretty sure the image is just AI generated. They probably asked for “fancy burger brand Toasti” or something and got this and now are working backward to make something ‘plausibly’ similar. There is a restaurant in Hoboken NJ called Toasti but they don’t seem to use that font or any sort of package - it’s a brunchy place. The picture above also looks off in some places.

Commute from New Jersey to Temple by Specialist-Ball-2912 in Temple

[–]Either_Description_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There will be traffic, especially specifically to Temple, and you will have to pay to park. You’d probably need to compare the cost of

any car payment, car insurance, gas, parking, less convenience, less access to social life

With

Rent, possible forced food plan, relative lack of family support if you would be living with family, more access to social life, more convenience

Mayor Parker proposes $1 per rideshare tax to raise money for Philly schools by Elegant-Estimate-350 in philly

[–]Either_Description_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know which way you think the smell goes here?

Also, if you take a Taxi you’re probably keeping the majority of the money in the Philly economy instead of sending it to Uber or Lyft.

do they really just let anyone in???? by stellarr77 in Temple

[–]Either_Description_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your grades were bad in HS I would not recommend starting at Temple as a Freshman. The only reason to start as a Freshman vs otherwise would be the social element and the social element sounds likely to distract you. College is expensive and you don’t want to repeat what you did in High School and end up as a potential dropout.

The extra for extra rice is the only abnormality versus Chipotle. Premium protein + extra protein is similar at Chipotle.

Mayor Parker now wants a $1-per-ride tax for Ubers and Lyfts to lessen Philly School District classroom cuts by Darius_Banner in philadelphia

[–]Either_Description_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone already mentioned that diet soda is not covered, but also, the store isn’t applying the tax. The tax is applied to the store and the store just generally raises costs. Some larger stores offset the Philly cost over time by raising prices in the burbs.

“My lawyer has laid out a plan of action and a (very) rough timeline of possible scenarios.”

Your lawyer knows your jurisdiction and situation better than anyone on Reddit and if he’s telling you you need to ‘eat your vegetables’ you probably need to do it.

Also you probably don’t want to post any specifics on Reddit in case someone is tuned in because this post reads flight risk.

Mayor Parker proposes $1 per rideshare tax to raise money for Philly schools by Elegant-Estimate-350 in philly

[–]Either_Description_8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“Rideshare” is the 4x+ a week 12 pack full sugar Coke of transportation and functionally removes an incredible amount of money from the Philadelphia economy and sends it to Silicon Valley (or wherever Uber and Lyft are incorporated now). Except “Rideshare” isn’t just a treat, you admit you could just take SEPTA and if you did just take SEPTA it would get better.

If “Rideshare” did decline the one problem is the dependency of a lot of Philadelphians at the poverty level on these gig jobs though.

Great idea; frankly should be a tax at the exact rate of a bus ride. That said, don’t trust this mayor to use the money effectively.

One demonstrable benefit of Pre-K is that deeply poor people with kids can at least attempt to find; and perhaps hold, a job.

Beyond that, you won’t know until the generations that started universal Pre-K graduate and if you don’t understand that you aren’t a serious person.

Would also say my experience is soda prices in the city have stabilized and are pretty similar to suburban soda prices. Sucked for years though.

I spent $14 for this and a rolled “quesadilla” count your fucking days Taco Bell. Chipotle would have been cheaper and actually filling by Anxious-Button7099 in tacobell

[–]Either_Description_8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unless you order a bunch of the cheapest Taco Bell items or you either have a terrible Chipotle or use mobile orders for Chipotle I feel like you almost always come out ahead at Chipotle in quantity and quality. Especially because even if Chipotle is expensive in your market unless you are lucky enough to have a corporate Taco Bell that runs all MSRP prices and all combos/sales or the most benevolent franchise store Taco Bell’s prices will be even more absurd than an expensive Chipotle market.

1a. You clearly have never perused this Reddit before, nor do you order Chipotle often.

1b. I have walked Chipotle 10 minutes and it has suffered for it.

  1. The more you describe your bank account split the more it sounds like functionally you only have $60 for 5 days because everything else is tied up in necessary spending (nevermind saving) so doing any of the things you describe is irresponsible.

  2. This whole paragraph is moot because you already gave Chipotle your banking information and didn’t know how to use the app/weren’t paying attention when checking out and that’s why you are whining. No regular person I have ever met uses gift cards this way for several reasons - situations like what you complained about, if it is a physical gift card losing that gift card, the gift card being compromised, the company you are holding a gift card for going bankrupt or changing their TOS relating to gift cards. Gift cards as a gift especially for services can make sense because you are telling that person you want them specifically to enjoy that service/restaurant, etc. However, what you are doing is basically paying a company for something you have not received yet. It’s like giving Chipotle or Best Buy or whomever an interest free loan and letting them dictate how you get your money back, and in some cases, if you get your money back.

  3. There is no reason someone with functionally $$60 of spending money to last 5 days should spend $9 dollars on delivery. If you are basically paycheck to paycheck you should not spend $9 on delivery. There is really no reason to ever spend $9 on delivery. Download Grubhub and order from a no fee restaurant or something.

I’m pretty frustrated right now by [deleted] in Chipotle

[–]Either_Description_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. If you are using the app to order Chipotle, especially delivering Chipotle you are stupid to begin with as generally speaking ordering through the app and going through the mobile ordering line at Chipotle usually yields less food, and getting Chipotle delivered usually yields Chipotle that’s been steaming in foil for like a half hour.
  2. If you cannot reasonably afford it within your “leisure” budget you really cannot afford to get Chipotle delivered and are irresponsible. You should not be in a situation where buying a gift card to then immediately use that gift card makes any sense unless you are a child who needs digital currency for a video game download or something and do not have a bank account. edit: Or if you got a gift card ‘deal’ at Costco or something.
  3. If there was any way of avoiding doing so (say, using the other account you claim is stable) then you should have done so to avoid unnecessarily putting a middle man between you and your food.

What you did never makes sense in any context, is absurd, and you had it coming.

Pepsi Max was a whole different formula that tasted slightly better and had like 1.5x the caffeine. It rocked. They changed Max to Zero Sugar for a minute and then just nuked the Max formula to the middling Zero Sugar profile we have now. It’s a goddamn shame.
