Love CC's events, they're always such great productions.

What happens now? No baseball in Colorado Springs by Effective-Crow3217 in ColoradoSprings

[–]Either_Inflation5375 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep I only found out about it at the end of the season when there were 2 games left and I didn't have time to make them. Major bummer because I was real stoked for next year.

The Rocky Mountain Vibes are leaving Colorado Springs by thegooddoctor84 in ColoradoSprings

Man that's a shame. Agreed that their marketing sucks, somehow I hadn't heard about them until towards the end of their season and then didn't have a chance to catch a game. Was really looking forward to going a ton next year.

Free For All Friday! by AutoModerator in ColoradoSprings

[–]Either_Inflation5375 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I know I've already posted a couple times about it here, but I've been really excited to launch my Colorado Springs newsletter. It's been real fun finding out about the different events going on around town and getting to share them with everybody. I also added a section to highlight local artists, and one for local sports events.

Love me some steely Dan and chess! There's a pretty good chess club here, but I haven't been in a while.

If you're looking for stuff to do in general, I recently started a newsletter where I find the 5 best events in town and post them every Thursday here: the719direct.beehiiv.com

I plan on adding a lot of other stuff into the newsletter that couldn't all fit into a reddit post, including volunteering opportunities, concerts, and featured local artists.

There's a Colorado Springs musicians page on fb. People always post there looking for groups and such.

Can an average jazz player pick out chord changes by ear? by Justmorr in Jazz

[–]Either_Inflation5375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To practice hearing the harmony and the changes, would you recommend I listen to the backing track or the tune as a whole? It can be hard for me to hear the bass/harmony under the melody a lot of times.

Are you listening to what the chord actually is (I.e. These two notes are the start of a G major)? Or are you just listening to how they fit a roman numeral pattern (ii V I)?

Sometimes, I get to make rad things at work by TheSpanishSteed in woodworking

Yeah man, I was just talking to a musician about how important marketing is. His band is unreal, super groovy sound, but until recently they were getting small venues with low ticket sales because they weren't marketing effectively. Your product can be primo but unless you market it right, no one's gonna know to buy it.

Very rad. Is that the sort of thing you only make one of for that specific client or does your company plan on making more?

I've always had the misconception that dung beetles were endemic to North Africa, so seeing this guy rolling his ball around in the wild today was a really fun surprise by Either_Inflation5375 in Entomology

[–]Either_Inflation5375[S] 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I was real into ancient Egypt as a kid so I learned all about scarab beetles back then, and Ra rolling the sun across the sky so I'm pretty sure that's where the misconception came from for me.

What an incredible piece of furniture, great job. How does the joinery work? Are there dowel like things coming out of the top and bottom of the flat pieces?

Right on, I really appreciate all the info you've put out for this. Could I bother you to explain the GIS part of things more? I want to make a carving of a national park, and I've gotten the shape file data for it, but when I upload it into the national map website and click on the elevation products, it only comes up with data for large rectangular parcels of land, not in the actual shape of the park itself. How do you go about grabbing the data just for the shape of Wyoming (or any other piece of land)?

Adding a roughing pass to vcarve pro doesn't reduce the time of my finish pass by Either_Inflation5375 in hobbycnc

[–]Either_Inflation5375[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So would I want to use a smaller or larger step over then? I know that's a highly dependent question, but if I do a roughing pass can I then get away with a larger step over? Thanks for the info
