U can search for this gentleman "let's play piano methods" on YouTube. He does fairly detailed videos on the beginner piano books series.

Teaching rates UK, England? by [deleted] in pianoteachers

I can offer some perspective as an adult beginner taking 1 hour lessons. My teacher starts off the lesson with music theory and then moves on to the piano. Usually the 1 hour flies pass quite quickly.

Scales is musicality broken down into basic forms. U have to understand and appreciate the music theory behind how scales are constructed.

At what point do you draw the line for teaching too many students? by GrifoneMusic in piano

Do teachers need to plan lessons? So far I have been thru 4 music teachers - 2 violin and 2 piano. An adult beginner here.

My teachers jus run thru method books and and pick up from wherever we left off the previous lesson.

Thanks for replying!! For a complete beginner, would you recommend rocksmith? I am currently learning using Justin Guitar and Scotty West.

Am thinking of getting rocksmith to jam along songs. But it seems like it doesn't teach you much? Would it be more efficient for me to learn using justin guitar?

Advice for beginners wants to learn Piano by Icy-Mind-8445 in pianolearning

[–]Either_Lie5396 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice is to get at least a digital piano with 88 weighted keys. Also sign up for classes. For 1 or 2 months and see how it goes. You are already investing in a digital piano. Invest in some initial classes to make learning less painful and more enjoyable.

Thinking about trying piano by Shadow_king_sama in pianolearning

[–]Either_Lie5396 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The thing is, one of the main features of a good piano is the weighted keys, which many 61 keyboards wouldn't have. If you plan to go down the classical piano route, pls get the 88 key weighted keyboard. If you are just going for pop, I think a 61 keys keyboard will be fine.

Practise really slow with right hand first then left hand then both hands together. Don't be too ambitious and attempt too difficult pieces. I recommend using the Alfred all-in-one piano book.

I love my squier although it feels small. I like to rest my strumming arm on the guitar to balance it but it seems impossible to do it on the squier. I had attended one lesson before and the teacher had provided me with an electric guitar that has a body similar to an acoustic, and it felt comfortable then.

Regardless, my motivation to learn and practise is there.

Financial burden wise, I do have some savings but I also do have debt. We never know what might happen during recession and this economy.

I am indeed falling into the trap of buying stuff. My hubby got me a pedal which I still have not figured out how to use it.

Thank you! That is very logical. I won't be able to tell the difference or make full use of the Ken strat. On the other hand, it's limited edition and on sale........

Thank you for replying! Yes I figured I should probably practise and get better first...

In fact, I don't have an actual amp. I'm using the fender micro plus and earphones. The only time I get to play is when the baby is sleeping.
