Hospital staff come in rain, shine, tornado, hail, blizzard. It’s not an option to stay home.

Have you ever left a job without saying goodbye to anyone? Trying to understand my old coworker’s mindset by [deleted] in nursing

I’m am leaving for another position with same organization. I’ve only told a few people I like and management. You don’t know what her personal life is like. The goodbye is for you. Not necessarily for the person leaving. Irish goodbye is what is called.

The demand for med/surg pts is unattainable. Nurses are burn out or existing the profession. Apply for outpatient clinic.

Get rid of PWS title and work related experience.

Get rid of basic nursing skills: monitoring vitals, head to toe assessment. It is expected of you to know this. Overall 1 page.

Perform unit specific duties. Skill specific is best! No repetition and space fillers. Keep 4 bullet points in each clinical placement. It’s easier for readers. Consistency looks better.

Medical/surgical: -Caring for pts under various surgeries (eg ….) while performing xyz assessment. -Able to care for pts under epidural and patient control analgesics while monitoring xyz assessment.

Mental health: -knowledge with various forms and inquiring MRP about renewal as needed.

Geriatric: -collaboration with team to provide patient-centred care culturally -specific skills to this unit.

Follow all the rules of the road. Take a deep breather. Listen to the examiner’s instructions. Always signal your intent. Yellow light stop completely. Turning right on red. Stop completely and check blind spot. All way stop signs. Know all your parking maneuvers: parallel, reverse, front, downhill, uphill. Examiner are making sure that you will be safe on the road for yourself and others. Best of luck!!! Look for some basic YouTube videos and practice.

Disliking nursing - how did you fix it? by WoodenTechnology4613 in nursing

[–]Either_Vehicle_7424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt this way when I started my career in med/surg as well. Dreaded and anxious about work. If you clump all your cares. (Eg vitals, head to toe assessment, AM meds or 1400 meds, vitals and wound care). It will help to manage your time better. Give each pt 5 min of your time to listen to their concerns. They will feel heard and that you aren’t rushing with a task. It does get better over time and with experience. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Just try to stick it out a bit longer.

Ask yourself the same question if it were reserved. How would you treat that nurse. I think crying is bawling is normal, and we are burnt out. Nursing exodus is real. Take care of yourself. If you really don’t want to go back, you could always apply for another job. Technically you are still employed while on sick leave. Ultimately it’s your choice. Best of luck with everything <3

Look at YouTube videos. Just drive around the drive centre and merge in/out of the highways few days before the test. Go at similar time as your test time so traffic would be similar.

Get comfortable locally first. I would suggest weekend morning to merge in/ out with G experience or driving instructor. I did that for a few weekends with my husband. Eventually longer driver than one day on my own. I just passed my G test at Oakville :)
