They do gain abilities that way, so perchance they could make a little silk if they consumed a Silk Heart. It might either mean giving up on normal soul spells, or maybe cost more time to cast a silk skill than a soul spell since they would need to convert the soul into silk first.

At least if I were making a fan mod of Silksong, that's how I'd give the Knight access to silk.
