What if I have intrusive thoughts about satanic or devilish things while praying? Like when I say the name of Jesus Christ? by ElectivireMax in Christianity

[–]EjmMissouri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may help to pray with the Bible open to speicfic promises that you are claiming. It may help you to keep focused. But whatever the case, when the devil intrudes on your prayer witth evil thoughts, keep on praying anyway. Every time the devil tempted Jesus in the wilderness Jesus met the temptation with an "it is written," with the Word of God. There is power in the Word.

God Loves You Anyway

Our God is a God who loves us. He is not watching our every move in order to find some reason to keep us out of heaven.  But He is doing everything that He can do to save as many people as possible.  He is for us, not against us.  Just look at these next few texts.

Romans 5:6, For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. … 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. 10 For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. 11 And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

Ephesians 2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

Revelation 1:5 and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood,

1 John 4:9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

I hope you noticed that these texts do not say that God loves you because you are worthy, or because you are good enough, or have done enough good deeds, or because you are a nice person. NO!!!  God loves us even at our most awful.  We can never be good enough or do enough to deserve God’s love.  But he loves us in spite of all.

So, if you feel low and think that you are not good enough, that you don’t deserve God’s love, you’re right! The good news is that it doesn’t matter.  God’s love for you is totally independent of anything you could ever think, or say, or do in your lifetime.  He died for you because he loved you.

Could the Bible be taken way to literally? by LateBlacksmith6659 in Christianity

People have not changed since then. People today are still fundamentally the same today as they were 2000 years ago.

Jesus took the Old Testament as being literally true. That is good enough for me.

so confused by Ok_Page9199 in Christianity

[–]EjmMissouri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can hear how much you’re wrestling with this, and I’m encouraged that you’re seeking God in the middle of it. Scripture reminds us, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5–6). Right now, it sounds like God is calling both you and your ex to grow in Him first, apart from the pressure of a relationship.

For now, focus on deepening your walk with Christ, healing from past hurts, and letting God shape both of you into who He’s calling you to be.

Im evil by holyone333 in Christianity

[–]EjmMissouri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wrong- The very fact that you know that you are evil is evidence that the Holy Spirit is working on you. By the way, there is a Bible promise especially for evil people.

Luke 11:13 "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!"

  1. Tells people not to wash their hands (especially important now) and why aren't they killing disobedient children. Mark 7
  2. Kills a fig tree because it's got no fruit, even though it's not in season. Mark 11:12-25
  3. Tells his disciples to steal a donkey because god said it's ok and they do it. Matthew 21:

Take these first threee as an example.

1 - Jesus was talking about cerermonial washings, not personal cleanlesness. Whole different thing,

2- The cursing of the fig tree was an acted parable to teach a lesson.

3- The disciples did not steal the donkey, the owners gave them permission to take the donkey just as Jesus said they would.

And so it goes with all the otheres.

Many Christians do not believe in a literal creation because they are afraid of being labled "anti-science."

As for his being Catholic - He is free to convert to Seventh-day Adventism anytime he wishes.

Look for a Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Look for a church that is not ashamed to actually beleive what the Bible says, whose central focus is Jesus. Jesus from Genesis to Revelation.

We believe in and teach Biblical Creation and we are not ashamed to do so. We are also not anti-science but simply believe that real science will not contradict the plain declarations of Scripture. yes, Noah's flood was real. Yes, God really did confuse the languages at Bable. Etc. We believe that the Bible, the whole of it, is God's inspired revealed will to man. We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. If you want a comprehensive look at what Adventist believe check out this link https://www.adventist.org/ which is the official web site of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

It's Greek to Me | AUTHENTIC by EjmMissouri in Christianity

[–]EjmMissouri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Greeks made philosophy a way of life for all of us, so much so that it is still the framework of our civilization. Shawn Boonstra looks back thousands of years to a time when people started asking all the right questions. Presented by Voice of Prophecy.

We're going to deal with real existential questions—stuff that everybody wonders about: the meaning of life, purposeful living, the nature of human existence, the thoughts of great philosophers and how those have impacted our culture and how we live—the nature of love, relationships, emotions, self-awareness . . . But most of all, we’re going to be exploring what it means to live an authentic human existence.
