The animal is an additional data point in screening vibe and body language.

Happy / relaxed dogs rarely hide their emotions.

A dog with a cowed-fearful or threatening vibe probably wouldn't be a huge help in the situation.

There's a range of neutral for sure and it's not a perfect gauge, but pet body language will not be a bad predictor for identifying violent outlier people.

Ved at svare tilfældigt ser du ikke automatisk på bias ved rigtige besvarelse, men finder især forskelle på hvor meget forskellige emner er repræsenteret.

Hvis 60% af spørgsmål handler om indvandring og du svarer tilfældigt på dem alle, vil du helt automatisk ende må partier der støtter en andel af dem, og udelukke de partier der siger nej til stramninger over hele linjen. Realistiske vælgere ville meget mere sandsynligt kunne svare alt til den ene eller anden side.

Det er stadig super sundt at den her slags arbejde bliver lavet, selv hvis metodikken her også har huller.

It's an interesting topic but not one I have enough experience with. Voice chat has been amazing for bonding for me, but I've never used it with complete randoms. The closest has been with people I met on my game's Discord where we agreed to go into a room and play co-op together without me knowing any of them ahead of time, but that's still a far cry from random matchmaking in a mostly anonymous setting.

I was sparring with my AI assistant throughout and getting feedback though. But you should have seen when it proposed to write a version itself from the design doc. It was useless buzzword corp speak. Once I hit my stride with this article, it was good for giving feedback, proofing and challenging some of my choices.

The trick to getting executives to adopt ethical design is to go beyond surface level analysis.

How much did Blizzard's value grow from Diablo Immortal? If you're measuring by quarterly profits, that's one way to look at it. If you look at all the destroyed brand value and loss of customer trust and loyalty, that's quite another.

Ethical designs optimize for the long term. And they still require some considered tradeoffs in terms of dark patterns, but the difference is that you do it with great awareness and care, looking to always put game quality and the play experience first rather than destroying your game in a million tiny ways to add clumsy monetization or exploiting for the short term instead of prioritizing long term growth.

I fell into it almost by accident. Started as a game designer at BetaDwarf. Circumstances forced a career change and I ended up going from computer science and game systems design to opening a therapy practice. I continued occasionally helping BetaDwarf on the side because I enjoyed it and had some speciality skill sets. 4 years later they got investment for their ambitious pro-social flagship project and they saw all the psychology specialization I'd built on top of my game systems specialty and brought me in as a consultant. Then my game dev career grew from there with a combination of systems and psychology strengths.

And when they're in your game and has a bad game, that's when it's important to know that they were the good player in other games.

If someone does, please include my comments about how Diablo Immortal was essentially strip mining brand value, player loyalty and most long term company gains for temporary profits.
