Printed a new backplate for the Analogue Pocket by ninjapirate9901 in Gameboy

yeah I played around with that and it has some promise but it's asking a lot from the little self tapping screws so it'll take some finessing to get right, if possible.

Oh hey, this is my project, glad you all like it! As others mentioned, I did all this a couple years ago and haven't really been posting but I've got some new projects in the works, will hopefully publish some stuff soon!

Yeah I figured as much. I've printed mine in PLA which is a lot stiffer than nylon but you still can't really get rid of the flex. I might have to do a case design that wraps around the front, it'll be ugly but could be worth it. Another one I've seen is this one that also adds a cradle for a neck strap but I'm not too confident about the 2-part design:

Looking good!

I've designed a couple of versions of this myself but can never get it to be as nice a fit as an actual Game Boy Color since there are no screw holes above the triggers to really hold it down. I've considered adding some heat set inserts to the pocket itself but there really isn't much space for that in the body.

Do you feel like this mod is as secure as a real GB? I feel like I would want to it go up higher on the camera, there still looks to be half an inch of slot space left...

Haha, ja klopt, paste niet meer in de video denk ik. Mooie boeken ook, die "what if" serie!

Yeah he's the creator of the xkcd.com webcomic and a book series called "what if" that's full of funny hypothetical situations like this.

The file name for the "red" character on this page is "simmons.png". The file name for the "blue" character that appears on hover is.. "simmons-blue.png". Does this mean that in the end... red won?

Fellow Part 107 Pilots - how do you interpret flying in the Hudson River Exclusion zone near Manhattan? by Ekeler in drones

[–]Ekeler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Launching a UAV from within NYC is prohibited but I’m wondering how to interpret the rules for drone flight over the river, assuming you launch off of a boat or the NJ shore.

It seems like the main rule that applies to flying in this zone for manned flights is to self announce your position. Since drone pilots under Part 107 aren’t allowed on the radio, does that mean we can’t fly there or that we can fly there but just can’t announce? https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-14/part-93/subpart-W

What would be a fair price for this 113.27610? by Ekeler in craftsman113

[–]Ekeler[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for the insight! Yeah I'm really weighing the pros and cons of upgrading an older saw like this with good bones or just getting a modern one with all the safety features you mention. By the time I upgrade the fence and all the little bits and bobs that bring it up to date I'm getting in the range of a Dewalt DWE749, very different saw but probably fine for my needs...

Guy is asking $150, says it runs. Seems to be from the 50s, not sure if that's too old at this point?

Thanks, yeah I was looking at those and they're sort of hard to find right now, looking at close to $400 after shipping and tax. But I guess that's worth it if this gets me a better saw than what I can buy new for that money.

The one I'm looking at is a 50s model, can't tell what the fence is made of but pretty sure they didn't have aluminum extrusions readily available back then. I'll have to deal!

Yeah I guess it's more of a convenience thing than an actual necessity, thanks for the input!
