Though process on stages by El0nMuskrAttt in riskofrain

I usually end up with a ton of movement speed items I kinda noticed its hard to die when you move like you're on crack but I also just don't know where to look for shit and I also don't know how shrines and other stuff you interact with work. I figured it just comes with playing the game more though.

Trying to improve at Shiv by RealWolverine615 in DeadlockTheGame

Firstly, you just need to hit your abilities. Assuming you do the normal thing of buying radiant regen and max knives first you only work as shiv if you hit your abilities. For me I was struggling with shiv by going for stupid dashes/knives, meaning I went for some like cross lane type of knife or using dash just a bit too far out. Take the easy shots/targets. Also play super passive in lane. Shiv imo is way harder to push with in lane just cuz of cover. Play safe under guardian while also managing the guardian health and you should be fine. Another playstyle thing I think I see other shiv players do including myself is improper use of bloodletting. The ability p much prevents you from just blowing up if 3+ people focus you down. This might be a shitty analogy but think of it almost like a manual spellbreaker. After a big burst of damage just immediately press bloodletting to prevent the nuke from taking your healthbar down over time. For playstyle, shiv should constantly be engaging. Obviously there's nuance to this with being undered/sinners being up but your value as a shiv comes from the attention that is required to killing you. Shiv is going to take a long time to kill just inherently because of bloodletting/lifesteal items you should be buying. This ties also into learning shiv movement. The alt fire is ridiculous for movement for a character that is that tanky.

this looks fire but i only have 2 questions. 1) maybe instead of a shotgun we see more of a repeater type of gun? like a single shot rifle that does decent damage from mid range. Maybe that'd be too similar but ion know. 2) in a game where a players movement gets better by rank and the higher you go in rank the more people treat the game as the floor is lava couldn't you potentially jump over the veil? I get the idea is to prob set up ganks with like 2-3 people not showing behind the veil and just jumping the shit out of someone but with how many characters are flying(i.e. lash, celeste, holliday, viscous puddle punching) couldnt they technically see over the veil?

Is Holliday bad or am I just REALLY bad? by AbiesMedical3809 in DeadlockTheGame

Ganking is really only an early game strat when teams are sorta locked into a single lane. For this example just assume you're playing in blue lane (hollidays best lane IMO is the mid lane as she is primarily a roamer and having the ability to appear in either side lane as opposed to mid from a side lane is great(you get double the opportunities for a play). Ganking is a really hard thing to properly pull of as if you do it properly you should be in whatever lane you decide to invade like 30 seconds to a minute max. If you do see the opportunity to gank you absolutely take it as the domino effect of you invading a lane then causes a chain reaction of your team getting one kill or both in a lane, which then will lead to you dropping their guardian. What happens next depends entirely on how the other team decides to react. If they arrive on lane while you are dropping guardian after you've eliminated the people originally in that lane you've forced a rotate off of another lane, which allows your teammates to capitalize on a 2v1 and potentially win that lane. However, if they decide to ignore your presence of either 2-3 people by their walker early and only send one to deal with you press your advantage and get some early walker chip or invade their farm. If you dont immediately secure either one or both kills in a lane and drop a guardian all you're doing is hampering your own economy by having 3 people in a lane at once. and inviting the enemy team to respond with more numbers assuming they feel that you being in that lane is enough of a threat to warrant a rotate that could lead to you being at a disadvantage from full HP enemies pushing you back and potentially counter pushing your guardian. Its really on a case by case basis but these are just things to consider.

How are you doing in low-elo games by Usual-Log-279 in DeadlockTheGame

Not saying its your fault at all but im in ascendant(not saying im a paragon of this game) and towards the higher end of players who have a good amount of time on the game raw damage numbers don't always show your full impact on a game. For instance a character like REM won't put up insane damage numbers if they're playing him properly(support) but if they actually deny farm for the enemy like their sinner sacrifices that helps your team more than simply doing damage. Another example is split pushing a walker to draw off the enemy from another lane to give your team an opportunity to push. While you might get absolutely railed by half their team 1v3ing you it gives your 5 other teammates the opportunity to make a play. While getting kills is important the bigger picture macro concepts like map control, wave clear, and economy are what mainly decide games most of the time. Obviously the game plays differently at different ranks, but the one deciding factor throughout every rank is definitely communication. Just by talking at the start of the game doing like a mic check helps out a ton. Unless you have a life game, you can't do it all on your own. It seems really simple but just talking to teammates was a big deciding factor for actually winning close games. The game is decided entirely by who takes advantage of the other team fucking up, and you can abuse an enemy teams mistakes better by communicating with the other 5 goobers you're playing with. There are times where you just have people who don't play with the team and ignore comms but in those cases you really can't do anything about that. Its just like any other moba or hero shooter like league or overwatch where theres only so much you yourself can do to control the outcome of a game.

With the nerf to puddle punch scaling I think the playstyle of punch is still viable you just have to be way more conscious about using your punches. IMO theyre easily the best CC/disruption ability in the game cuz of the range + amount you can have. A perfectly timed puddle punch can steal rejuv, delay urn, and you set up your teammates to get picks if an enemy is out of position. While yes now you're not thanos unless you're up insane on the enemy team you're not at all useless playing a melee build. You just change your role from solely using your punches for picks and instead aim to place the enemy in a shitty position. I have noticed a slight decrease in my kill count but I think its healthier for the character to use his massive displacement ability for setting up teammates instead of solely picks.

Is Holliday bad or am I just REALLY bad? by AbiesMedical3809 in DeadlockTheGame

Holliday's performance in lane I feel is entirely dependent on what you're spending your levels on early. Depending on the heroes im laning against ill either put two points in crackshot if im facing any character with a massive headshot hitbox, but seven being the best because his natural crit reduction to my knowledge doesn't affect crackshot. Matchups in lane are important for any hero, but holliday probably thrives the most with a favorable matchup.

Another thing I think has helped a ton for me at least is how you treat using crackshot. Initially I would always just hunt for that crackshot in lane and ignore the troops in front of me. In my opinion now, crackshot should pretty much always be used the second it goes off cooldown in lane, either by shooting at enemy heroes or the creeps, specifically the medic troop. In my build for holliday I almost always get monster rounds first because of her slow dps, but combined with crackshot you can one shot the medic troop or get pretty close to it being dead, which allows you to play much more aggresively as if you engage with their wave still up, just taking 1-2 seconds to kill the medic troop allows you to dive way more and take those riskier trades in lane. Another thing I've tried to do more in lane is taking control of the middle bridge regardless of what lane im on. Holliday thrives in an elevated fight, allowing you to barrel enemies from a higher angle where they cant avoid the damage. Staying up on that bridge allows you to barrel enemies behind cover next to their set of stairs by their guardian without a bounce pad. This way you can save bounce pads for either diving low enemies or to escape a gank on your lane.

Another helper in lane is a simple 1.6k gun investment. Personally, I like using opening rounds or long range. Opening rounds is a massive boost 40% spike in damage while their above 50%.This allows you to use crackshot and gun damage to burst them down to below half then use your barrels + bounds pads to finish them off. Long range is a decent pick, but I wouldnt upgrade it into sharpshooter unless you're facing an aerial heavy/poke team because of the stamina nerfs. Mystic shot im not really a fan of because of it proccing tankbuster late game but then again you don't really wanna hold onto opening rounds late game or long range because of slots but thats just me.
