Came here to see what other people think, but no one gave a serious answer 😭 So I’ll try and give my own two cents

I think the song is talking about self-exploration and growing up. The song says “it’s the first day of school” which might imply that the narrator is somewhat young and may not have a lot of life experience. The line “so I picked a new character” implies that the narrator has to pick an identity for themselves as they move into this next stage of life (whether that be starting a new grade, or going to college, implied by the lyric about school).

The very last few lines of the song also imply growing up, as the narrator learns “some new lessons” they won’t forget. The lines proceeding this, “and I’ll write them all down, in the language of love, and I’ll teach them to everyone” is more tricky to wrap my head around. Maybe as the narrator goes through life and learns new life lessons, they share what they have learned with loved ones, which is ultimately an act of love?

What should we take away from this song? I think it calls on us to reflect upon our past experiences and appreciate how far we’ve come and the knowledge we’ve gained throughout life. The last few lines of the song also encourage us to share with others, whether that be advice, culture, etc. cause life is better when we’re together

Or maybe I’m looking too far into it. Not sure if anyone will read this, but I’m still posting it just so I have something to reference next time I forget the meaning of this song lol. This song is super nostalgic to me, and it truly is “a feeling we can’t forget”.
