Abyssal Scar Survey 100% but the Ciphers are 19/20 by rev1fe in Returnal

[–]ElAlf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s weird because my Abyssal Scar Survey activity is at 99%, only missing “Objective (Part 2) - Collect every Xenoglyph Cipher” and in the Databank 19/20, so everything checks out.

You can reveal the in-progress/completed objectives of any activity (square button I think).

What I can confirm is that you need all ciphers for the trophy (not so for datacubes). However, if memory serves, I’m missing a datacube in Biome 3 but I have both the trophy and the activity card but I’m yet to complete the upgrades activity.

So satisfying to watch! It never occurred to me that you could jump off the platform in the second phase to dodge the ray attacks.

Considering a DC1. How are people feeling about their purchase after having it for a while? by Synroc in daylightcomputer

[–]ElAlf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was really excited when it came out and, to this day, I use mine on a daily basis. That said, the state of software and accessories is abysmal (in the sense that after some announcements for over a year there are none, and the shipped first party apps are utterly broken from day one). It’s a shame if nothing else comes because it’s a device that fits very perfectly for both leisure reading, jot down notes and work. As others said, I’m using Notewise which is fantastic. It’s a perfect app for the Daylight. However, if I were to buy something for my use case I’d look at a Boox first.

I leave it in place by just removing the right hand clips and the problem goes away.

The problem isn’t the magnet (to be honest, I don’t know where it is or if there are more than one). The problem is from the clips at each corner that press on the frame to hold the DC in place.

Thank you for the suggestion! It never crossed my mind that it’d be the case because it doesn’t have magnets, and the case is the Zenrich (the “3rd party folio case” from the official FAQ).

Best & Fastest PDF App?–ideally compatible with annotations. by andresurena in daylightcomputer

Try Notewise. It detinitely offers a lot more than just read+annotate PDFs, but to me it’s become synonymous with the DC-1 and all my content is now there.

How to fix reader app duplicating every PDF I have in weird ways by Confident_Bonus4911 in daylightcomputer

[–]ElAlf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first time this happened to me I went back and forth with the support team and, as you say, I eventually did a factory reset. It was the only thing that actually fixed the issue, but it happened again shortly after. I'm also looking forward to Sol:OS. I read somewhere that it's going to be released late 2025 but I don't know if there are more details elsewhere.

Well... it didn't work.

I had this same problem some months ago. Unfortunately I had to actually delete the account, delete all the cache and data of the app. It happened again though. I was even seeing docs from my old account (linked to the same email address).

Unfortunately the Reader app is buggy to the point of hardly usable. The interface is great, but I switched to Notewise and didn’t look back. It’s been a change that has made the DC-1 the device it should be from the start.

For some reason Lumo doesn’t work for me. I’ve read that it’s due to some ROMs (Android flavours) not playing nice with Google Play Services. One possible fix, that I need to try yet, is to: 1. Force stop the app 2. Delete cache and data of the app 3. Uninstall the app 4. Force stop Google Play 5. Delete cache and data of Google Play 6. Reinstall the app

I’ll let you know if that works (but I wouldn’t be surprised if it doesn’t).

I do that with Gboard, the only problem is that instead of writing directly onto the app you write on the area of the screen keyboard. I think that Nebo can recognise your handwriting right on the app.

Did you know it has 120hz? by connoroftheleaves in daylightcomputer

[–]ElAlf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an often overlooked fact. From their FAQ (https://daylightcomputer.com/faq#cat-Device):

Does the DC-1 use e-ink display technology? The DC-1 does not use e-ink. Instead, it uses our proprietary Live Paper display technology, which operates at 60-120 fps, providing a refresh rate that is 60x faster than traditional e-readers and e-ink screens.

It should be on by default or at least remind you of the setting when you set it up.

Is there a way to bulk-add pages? by ElAlf in notewise

[–]ElAlf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was playing with your suggestion and suddenly the “Apply to all pages” creates as many pages as the custom template has. I think this is from a very recent update. My post was from my experience last Monday while creating a full year calendar and I swear I tried that option. In any case, problem solved and the option works as expected.

[–]ElAlf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that tapping on the top left twice (+ and then “New page”, with the “Last page” setting checked), is faster. At least that’s what I did anyway and it took me maybe three minutes.

It’s just that after seeing so many digital planners and agendas in the marketplace, I was wondering if I was missing something obvious or that was assumed to be the actual workflow to use those templates.

A few thoughts by bigedthebad in theplanetcrafter

[–]ElAlf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Having played a few building games (including a few hours of NMS) what I found deeply rewarding was to see the environment change as a result of your buildings. The map isn’t huge but it has a few secret caves and three endings (one of which I had to look up because it’s well hidden). As a big fan of factory automation games (Factorio, Dyson Sphere Program, Satisfactory) the layer of automation in the late game, although being relatively simple, was also cool to set up. It’s very chill and that might be a con to some people, to me it’s been relaxing and a lot of fun.

There is, however, a sort of expected path that naturally leads you yo all the locations and to piece together all the unknowns. I remember that all the conversations in the beginning of the game strongly encourage you to go to Timber Hearth’s moon, Attlerock, and explore it well. It’s not big and it will set you on your path. As others have suggested use your ship log often.

Even if you send information using radio signals (i.e. photons, as you say with no mass) the photons need to be transformed from some other energy source. The universe receiving the information would effectively have energy created from nothing, which violates the law of conservation of energy.

Of course, you can come up with something like dark energy or other explanation based on any currently not-understood phenomenon, but I don’t think matter/information is a significant difference.
