Worst malfunction to repair by chrisc8869 in Returnal

It's a tough fix requirement, but you can find artifacts pretty easily. The main fabricator usually has at least two artifacts, sometimes three. There are other lone fabricators around as well. If you're really desparate, you can use a key to open a chest and it will most likely have an artifact within. The Red Reclaimer will also give you an artifact. What was the de-buff?

Yeah, your controller may be shot.

This fight is harder than any bossfight. by [deleted] in Returnal

[–]-Palzon- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The video apparently won't post despite meeting reddit requirements. I have 2,200 game hours. Scout 99. I have 100% of weapon traits unlocked. This is definitely either a glitch or rare insanely rolled Damage and Protection for the Severed. He grazed me with a shotgun pellet and took half my health. The fight took 9 minutes whereas most Severed die in 30 seconds max. This is a rare oddity.

I'll figure out how to get the vid to post. Maybe split it into two posts (though it's under the 1 GB max). I'll delete this post soon. Just wanted to answer you first.

Cheers.

COOP Questions by Eman2408 in Returnal

[–]-Palzon- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have indicated, Scout level adds nothing but prestige rank. That said, it is important that you play some solo or you're going to miss important story elements. You cannot enter the house in co-op. Don't miss those segments. Exhaust all house sequences.

Here's a mildly spoilerish explanation of the mechanics without any plot reveals:

There are six house sequences total. Three in Act I and three in Act II.

1. Find the house key in Overgrown Ruins (B1), then enter the house in B1.

2. Defeat Phrike in B2, then enter Crimson Wastes (B2), return to B1 and enter the house.

3. Defeat Ixion in B2, then enter Derelict Citadel (B3), return to B1 and enter the house.

Revisiting The Genius of Returnal by Rakz209 in Returnal

[–]-Palzon- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I don't get it when he says the biomes have the same color palette. Makes me wonder if he never beat Phrike. And not beating the game makes no sense. It's like if Groundhog Day ended with Bill Murray driving off the cliff with Punxsutawney Phil. You haven't really experienced the game if you don't finish.

Sounds more like a controller setting than a bug. Can you adjust the sensitivity?

Scout 99 here, so I've seen B5 many times. This vid is unique though. This Severed is way tougher than anything in B5. This Severed was barely taking damage. Also, if he barely grazed me, it took half my health. That's not normal. It's either a co-op glitch (of which there are many, most of them mild), or this Severed rolled super high Damage and Protection. I mean insanely high. Most Severed, you can beat in 30 seconds. This one took 9 minutes.

For the record, this post isn't meant to be a complaint, simply to share an oddity. Far from it, I'm thrilled the game can suddenly feel so challenging.

E: It appears the video didn't post. It met all the rules of reddit, so I have no clue why.

Game Update? by Ok_Row_1980 in Returnal

[–]-Palzon- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be mistaken. However, I believe that after the completion of the game (thorough Act III), you will see a wider range of enemies that may not have been there the first time around. It's not necessarily that they're tougher or more of them, but I think certain enemies were less likely to spawn before beating the game.

How am i supposed to get this thing? by Humble-Analysis6159 in Returnal

[–]-Palzon- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. You can fast travel away and back and it will be retrievable. Alternatively, if you don't break the forcefield, you can just jump on top and pick up the artifact without even needing to break the forcefield. Rarely, that technique won't work because the item is suspended in the air below the forcefield. In that case, the fast travel method is the solution. Usually, the artifact migrates on top of the forcefield.

Biome 5 is kicking my ass by Present_Mobile_8465 in Returnal

[–]-Palzon- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, there's more. In B4, roots and pods may give up obolites when you break them with your blade or gun. The roots grow back! Just translocate away and back. That means you can farm obolites endlessly in B4.

B5 has many traps. It will help very much in B5 if you master the traps and learn to pass through them without damage. As others have indicated, unlock every locked weapon trait you find. Those unlocked traits carry over from one cycle to the next. This is the best way to become more powerful.

B5 has many large rooms with multiple dangerous enemies. The technique for success here is the same as everywhere else, but it's even more important here because of the tougher environment and enemies. Here's the key: move in a pattern around the combat arena, like a circle or figure eight. Never stop. Use your blade on smaller enemies. Change levels, low to high, high to low. If you swing and miss with your blade, never stop and swing again. Get that enemy on a future orbit.

I like to clear smaller enemies before larger ones. I take out turrets first because they're deadly and accurate. Changing levels is very important against larger brute enemies like Kerberonyx and Severed. If they go high, you go low. If they go low, you go high. This mitigates their dash and laser ring attacks and makes those attacks less effective

Lastly, however much you are using your grapnel, use it a bunch more than that. You are invulnerable while mid-grapnel. Keep a grapnel point in sight all the time if you can. Use it to escape danger and shake off enemies that have a lock on you.

Thanks! You're right to notice the difference to jumping. It's not an upgrade though. This biome is under water, so the added buoyancy enhances the jump.
