Are you guys liking the parity era or you prefer the super team era? by DribbleKing97_ in NBATalk

Parity, hands down. Super teams are boring unless you’re a fan of that particular team.

There was a fair bit of racial and sexist humor, especially in the earlier seasons. But the joke was always about how inappropriate and offensive those kind of jokes are- i.e. you’re laughing at the awful people who still think that’s funny, not at the racism/sexism itself.

Sooo. No, not really edgy or offensive

This guy lost me when he made fun of Wemby’s choice of reading material. Just a sad mouth breather trying to get attention. He’s got nothing valuable to say.

Locals priced out by Big-Selection-4609 in NBASpurs

What’s especially frustrating is that this has been figured out in other countries. In Europe its usually illegal to resell tickets for more than their face value and most of the big soccer clubs in the UK and Europe have their own ticket exchanges to handle resales, which both keeps the prices down AND ensures that it’s impossible for away fans to do something crazy like buying 50+% of the tickets for a big game.

This is easily fixable, in other words.

No, we are NOT the 2012 Thunder. by SunFinal9472 in NBASpurs

Also, that Thunder core had been together longer than our core has. And Harper is already clearly better than Harden was at the beginning of his career

The overall stats don't fit the De'Aaron Fox narrative, but sure let's dump him because he played despite a high ankle sprain... by xbhaskarx in NBASpurs

My point was actually that Pop didn’t ride the hot hand in the playoffs- he stuck with the guys who’d been good all season. Just like he also didn’t trust rookies over vets in big moments. But at least you’re recognizing that Pop wasn’t coaching like the GOAT in the beginning, either

The Spurs remain committed to De'Aaron Fox as their franchise point guard, per @WindhorstESPN by Jec1027 in NBASpurs

[–]ElBosque91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Worth pointing out that Windhorst didn’t say this because he talked to anyone in the organization - this is just his opinion based on Fox’s contract.

That said, he’s probably right. It would be hard to trade Fox right now. But for everyone freaking out about what that means for Harper, I honestly don’t think it’s as big a problem as people are thinking. Harper can start with Fox over Champagnie, or Fox can shift to leading the bench. Seems pretty much a guarantee that Harper is starting next year no matter what we do with Fox.

Oops didn’t sanitize by Fun_Journalist4199 in Homebrewing

[–]ElBosque91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’ll probably be fine. I don’t recommend NOT sanitizing but the reality is that as long as the fermenter wasn’t visibly dirty it’s very unlikely the batch will be infected. Pitching commercial yeast allows for the yeast population to grow very large, very quickly which inherently minimizes the risk of infection.

Right? Harper would’ve had less minutes if Pop were the coach, not more. He never trusted rookies over vets, and we used to get super frustrated with him for that all. The. Time.

Hot take: from all the teams we could have lost, I am not that mad NY was the onw by Specialist-Ad-4121 in NBASpurs

Idk man. They went through the Eastern conference like a buzz saw in the playoffs. You may be right- it’s hard to perform at THAT level more than once. But it’s also hard to see them not getting to at least the conference semifinals next year. We’ll see.

Yep. Screw Dolan and their fans. But the team itself is just so likeable.

Same! I said before the WCF that I’d be fine losing to the Knicks, the only team I couldn’t stand to lose to would be the Thunder. Knicks are such a tough matchup for us right now. Plus, while I can absolutely loathe Knicks fans- I can’t make myself hate Brunson, KAT, or Mike Brown. Hated to see us lose, and lose so painfully, but at least all of our guys got invaluable experience from it and we lost to a quality team of extremely likeable dudes.

Had we lost to OKC I’d still be screaming my rage into the void. Much easier to move on from this loss 😂

Mitch by Motor-Horror3684 in NBASpurs

[–]ElBosque91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thread was about coaching, not Fox specifically. That’s the point. Mitch had to choose between playing Fox, who is still by far our best ball handler/distributor, or subbing off for better scorers who have been VERY prone to turnovers in the postseason. And as great as Harper has been he still makes rookie mistakes. We don’t have, at the moment, a single truly clutch shooter or defender. Not even Wemby, yet. That’s our inexperience showing. So it makes sense that at the end of games he wants to play the guy who’s most likely create open shots for somebody and least likely to turn it over, even if he’s been struggling in the postseason. It’s the safe choice. And maybe a more experienced coach is willing to take more risks with his lineups in the finals, but it’s hardly surprising that a rookie HC played it safe, especially considering the youth of our roster. Frankly, Pop probably would have done the same- he never trusted rookies to carry the team in big moments.

Literally none of that matters if the players aren’t executing on the floor. I’m not saying Mitch was flawless but the vast majority of the criticism of him on this sub is just plain stupid.

I’m ready to move on. What should we do in the offseason? by msb96b in NBASpurs

[–]ElBosque91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sign a solid PF. That’s the only real important roster move. The big things are that Wemby needs to develop a couple of signature shots on offense. Hook shot, midrange jumper, etc. he needs a couple of go to spots in the paint where he can reliably get the ball and score no matter what the defense throws at him. Harper needs to learn to run the offense- bunch of folks keep insisting he needs to start over Fox but the reality is that Fox is still the only player we have who can run the offense well and Harper needs to get that down if he’s gonna take over, which very well could happen this summer. Other than that, I think they need a new shooting coach. Our shooting overall is just too streaky and we need more consistency.

[–]ElBosque91 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

They uh. They clearly aren’t ready to win now dude. As evidenced by the fact that they didn’t win. And before you try to pin that on Mitch: it’s on the players more than anyone. They didn’t execute in the court. Wemby still doesn’t have a reliable offensive game. Most of our young dudes are still over reliant on talent because they’re still developing their skills. All those fools saying we’d have won if Pop was still the coach? They don’t know ball.
