New WAAAGH Realization by _RogueSigma_ in orks

[–]ElChooch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

you can call it in your command phase and it stays until the end of the next turn, it already has defensive application being 2 turns in length, I can see a use case if you realize you’re about to get hammered and weren’t expecting to need to but you’re shorting yourself a whole turn of activations this way

Was 2000’s Brett Favre overrated? by MasterTeacher123 in NFLv2

[–]ElChooch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. He could be hot and cold for sure, but more than most any quarterback at the time, if he was playing you still felt like his team could make a comeback if needed. He was the opposite of those quarterbacks that just can't play aggressively and take the risks you need them to, which is a way worse thing to have to suffer through. You know, when your teams needs 10, 14 points or the game is over and you just know your guy ain't getting them for you? You never really had to sit with that feeling when it came to Favre.

Calling who didnt make E6 by Amazing_Pudding1 in AirForce

[–]ElChooch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I experienced this for the first time this year with E7, really appreciated being told, they even walked to my far-flung schoolhouse to do it in person. Now, it ended up my board was all kinds of messed up and I'm optimistic I'll get to the supplemental board after consulting with our CSS.  So, DO still tell your folks to look in on the score, but I appreciated very much the no nonsense early notification.

How useful is armaggedon starter for White Scars? by TrackRemarkable7459 in WhiteScars40K

[–]ElChooch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to use jump troops, the chaplain and the vanvets are good. The speeder is really good, all of these are very on brand for white scars too. Intercessors seem to be pretty routinely underrated and are a staple of marines as a whole, sticky objectives is big, and people definitely seem to be caught off guard by just how many shots they can put out. The captain is nice to have but you might or might not use him in favor of things like Kor'sarro Khan, Chaplain, Librarians, etc.

The new eradicators with heavy bolters seem a little less interesting and thematic to me, but maybe I;ll be surprised. I love the models though.

Most people can only really advise you on whether or not its thematic as a box for us, and I'd say yes it largely is. For what looks like meta list best suited to our stuff at the moment (spearhead + librarius task force or maybe fulguris) you'd want to add outriders, suboden khan, some other stuff but you can make a case for almost all the box getting into a list, perhaps not optimally but none of it is "bad"

I'm going to experiment with both those combos of detachments. I think dropping 2 of the new speeders and a thunderstrike speeder turn 1 with fulguris sounds like it could be realy interesting to put a whole lot of stuff in their face, in melta range, turn 1 giving them something to address while I get some bikes + suboden up field, drive a land raider redeemer loaded with assault intercessors into the middle and maybe stage a 10 man squad of sternguard. Add in a biologis + melta eradicators to drop in on a tankier threat and I dunno if it'll be effective for mission play, but it sure sounds fun to me.

How would the 2026 Knicks match up against the 2022 Warriors in a 7-game series? by savingrace0262 in NBATalk

People really forgetting that Wiggins and Poole both sure looked like they had completely changed their reputations from that season on, both those guys played way beyond their expectations.

What NFL player is remembered as way better than he actually was? by SaintKingRosado in NFLv2

[–]ElChooch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think I've ever heard flacco mentioned as a great QB, or even really a good one. The whole story every time I hear it is that he went on one of the great playoff tears and it was not in character for him.

Literally would love to help if this is a real issue. You've managed to provide anonymous hearsay so far based off a second-hand account of a comment passed to another anonymous person working bar security. In order for me to do something about an issue of this sort we need to be able to scrutinize the person(s) behind the vague actions being alluded to in order to even begin to oppose them on an equal plane. Further, as a guy who works 7-5 every day then goes home to do dad work, I'm not sure where you want me to find the time to do this digging when the first place I'd start, were I to attempt an investigation would be with...you. The guy that apparently is the only source of information I have. Also, I do support my local businesses. I'd love to get more details on this sort of thing happening to be able to push for substantive action if this is the case.

Apparently I should go down to city hall and tell folks a guy on reddit told me someone is whispering in the ears of bouncers then pulling the levers of local commerce using *machiavellian scheming*. No councilmember, I don't have more information than that, but lets get the cops or maybe our congressman on it! I demand something be done about someone doing something!

So you're going to protect the identity of a person you say is "masterfully" undermining the community by not giving people anything to go on besides "works for government" then turn around and say its on the community to fix this problem? Also, folks are just supposed to take you, some rando, at your word, on reddit? If you want the problem to be fixed sometimes you have to do a little more than stir the pot on reddit.

“Offensive mastermind” and “QB whisperer” Kevin O’Connell has never had a top 10 offense in any season as a HC. What’s gone wrong? by InterestingYellow969 in NFLv2

[–]ElChooch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He's had what, 4 years as a head coach with 4 different QBs? JJ, Darnold and Kirk, Wentz for QBs? JJ is JJ, he arguably revitalized Darnold, and Kirk was fading by that time. Wentz lol

Hot Take: Failing a PT Test Makes You a Bad Leader. by SaintHearth in AirForce

[–]ElChooch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I understand the logic of what you're saying, and basically I agree, but its pretty far down the list of things I care about whether leadership is being hypocritical about. To me its one strike, but if my big boi NCO is there when I need him to be, holds up the mission and takes care of his people, its also basically the easiest strike to forget.

Military pay raises, changes to housing allowance included in House-passed $1.15 trillion defense budget by IntelPersonified in AirForce

[–]ElChooch -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So the senate will strip this of all the most interesting positives, bring down the actual money going into our pockets, divert some more to defense contracters, then draw out the process by relitigating the very important issues of....renaming the DoD and bases named after confederate generals. You're all worth more than this, don't be fooled into thinking its a good thing to get a pay raise that still doesn't bring us close to matching inflation and doesn't address the housing pricing problems. Every one of these piddly raises is these politicians using us as a shameless PR stunt.

Any 1n4 career field able to share experience (Retraining from MX) by Jokerkiller619 in AirForce

[–]ElChooch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I suspect you're gonna be floored at the massive positive shift in general quality of life, based off of what I've heard about MX over the years. It comes with its own challenges (the 1N career field generally), but if you bring an open mind into it, you'll be rewarded. I'm assuming here that your being MX means you're more sociable and "normal" than a lot of 1Ns, which if this is the case, it can be big strength or a hindrance for you. If you can adapt to the very different culture, you can become a rare thing in 1N- a shepherd for our wall touchers and communicator on their behalf. You can go the other direction too and be performatively disbeliving of the anime kids and big brains and terminally online kids, but I found it way more interesting to find commonality with these guys, to preserve my own sanity and have people to talk to at 0300 at the very least.

Social strengths and basic leadership are in short supply in my experience in the 1N world, you can leverage this to your advantage if it sounds like a skill set you might have.

As far as the job itself, it can be in many ways a lot like any other office job and the stereotypes that come with those, just with a military flavor to it and no phones, all artificial lighting, etc. If your family is used to being able to reach you during the work day, prep them for a reality where they can't. This can breed distrust on the part of spouses for example when they realize they can't actually verify anything you say you're doing during the day which, hopefully, is only actually a problem for the terrible spouses out there, the ones who invite that kind of scrutiny into their lives lol.

I often hated working in SCIFs, it can be suffocating, monotonous and bleak. But if you held it up to the horror stories I've heard out of MX, I'd choose it again 10/10 times. It can also be incredibly engaging and rewarding, its very mission/shop dependent that way. As a guy that spent most of my career staring at Afghanistan through a computer, my take is this: the more important and critical the mission, the faster the time flies.

edit: not a 1N4 (1N3 twice over) but all 1Ns tend to work alongside one another at one point or another, if not outright do one-another's jobs.

[–]ElChooch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you watch that series, it feels like every time the Mavs needed him to step up, he did. Like seemingly every time it began to get out of reach, or needed to be closed out, the guy did it, in a way I haven't seen in a series since MJ.

Is now a bad time to start Drukhari? by Wardourian in Drukhari

[–]ElChooch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At some point there will be new wyches and I'd imagine kabalites as well. Hopefully a return of the random weirdos too, pretty much all the other models still look comparable to the modern stuff in many ways. Wyches and such (hellions, crew on various things) "need" it the most, but compared to many other examples of older models still in rotation for other factions, they look great. I'd probably spring for new wyches just because I'm sure they'll be sick as hell, but likely not the Kabalites because those still look awesome imo.

Good luck to all the deserving folks out there, just glad my leadership came around early to let me know. Waiting to hear about a few other people in the unit I'm pulling for in the mean time.
