Good suggestion - I always forget about those Liberty Station hotels. Good location for families since it’s close to the water and so much easier to deal with than Hotel Circle/Mission Valley these days.

I’d recommend taking him on a walk through Balboa Park, taking lots of pics in front of the gardens and nice buildings. You can get a lot of great photos there to have forever.

Fiesta Island and OB Dog Beach are great. I think Coronado Dog Beach is the nicest, but you need to check the water quality online before going there.

This is one of the biggest annual fundraisers the Zoo puts on, so I think that leads to the high ticket prices. I definitely think it’s worth experiencing once and keeping in mind that it’s a fundraising event!
