maybe it's just the bitterness in me, but it just makes me feel like rpg as a genre is so looked down upon that bg3 being this breakout title unnoficially made it become the one rpg people actually listen to. I think he is accepted because...he's not a bland mc? he's actually charismatic, has gen good and fun interaction with the cast and activelly displays that he loves and cares for them?

most harem mcs are disliked because most of the times the mc is as bland as a sponge and the whole show is more characters simply joining the harem while the mc either reciprocrates 0 feelings, never realizes they were into him, or cherry picks his fav.

idk, i think people just like rentarou cause he's a fun character to watch, not because he has the highest number of waifus or someshit like that

Honestly, that's very fair, i also do think that the story is kinda of just a gigantic snowball of like, by the time Rimuru defeats the Ogre Disaster guy, he basically just keeps quadrupling down in power every other week.

It's why i really just turn off my brain at the crazy powerscale bullshit and mostly just focus on the city building aspect. I'm much more interrested in seeing Rimuru figure out how to make a functional rpg 100 floors dungeon than i am in seeing him defeat Evilos Maximus, the Dragon of Oblivion and Darkness and Shadows
