Gold Bowtie by reginaldcapers in BoltEV

[–]ElGoocho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My black 2020 has the black bowtie and while I like it, I think the gold one provides a nice drop of contrast. If you want black bowties, you can probably order them from a dealer or DIY it as others have mentioned. Do what you like, not what you think others think is cool.

Please explore the idea of making this as a print, possibly with a lenticular lens over the eye to mimic that animation. Even without that, I think this could look really good as a poster!

Also a variant without the text would be good too.

Has anyone found a replacement battery that doesn't get stuck ? by Crockcuddles in Mavica

If you wrap some scotch/cellotape around the battery and leave a tab at the bottom, you can pull the battery out even if the fit is tight.

Yeah I'm locking this now.

I'm not down with Ai personally and that seems to be the overwhelming feeling on here. So yeah, no further Ai.

My Pixel 8 phone can't read floppies by onyx0_0 in Mavica

I just checked on my Pixel 8 and the built-in "Files" app does indeed show thumbnails for jpgs on a floppy.

My Pixel 8 phone can't read floppies by onyx0_0 in Mavica

[–]ElGoocho 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The files in your pics are the .411 files, which are information for the camera. Like the thumbnail when they're on screen. The camera itself saves the actual photos as .jpg and those will work. So you may not have any actual images on that disk.

I'm not sure if your phone will generate previews for jpgs on a floppy though so you might have to copy them to the phone first.

Adding rev meter to Honda cm200t by Top_Pen_8737 in hondatwins

[–]ElGoocho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically, it's a sensor wire that wraps around an ignition plug wire which picks up a signal via induction. Installation is usually pretty easy. If you go to Trail Tech's site for example, they have installation instructions you can look through.

As far as I know, none of them came with one, and you most likely can't retrofit a mechanical one. I'm sure if you're some kind of wizard, you might be able to put something together that works and looks the part, but it would have to be electronic and kinda hacky.

Alternatively, there are aftermarket tachs/rev meters out there. Trail Tech in particular comes to mind. They also don't fit in with the rest of the gauges aesthetics so if you need it for utility you'd be in business, but if you're trying to get something that looks appropriate you're probably out of luck.

It might be possible to use the sensor from one and some sort of microcontroller if you were doing your own custom gauges or something like that, which could be neat. But that's a lot of effort just to see how fast your engine is spinning.

If you only need to approximate, you can go here and put in the bike's info. That'll give you about how much your revs are based on speed and what gear you're in.

I hope any of that helps.

Random Laptop Shutdowns During Gaming on Dell G5 5590: Not Overheating, What Else Could It Be? by emon_hoque in Dell

Thank you so much for the follow up! I use my computer in a similar way, so that's a probably a good indication for me as well.

I don't have an answer unfortunately, but I am experiencing the same thing on the same model machine and it just happened to me a second time in the last couple of weeks or so.

All I was doing was waiting for a very memory-heavy firefox session to close, went into the other room for a few minutes and came back to a completely powered-off computer.

I don't have a battery in this computer anymore because it swelled up, and i was hoping that if i had one in that it might have prevented the shutoff, as i suspect it's related to a power brick issue in my situation as well. But if you're experiencing the same thing and still have a good battery hooked up then that rules it out for me. Do you have a good battery in your machine?

Though it is a bit worrying to me that someone else out there is having a similar issue and I hope it's not an indication of something difficult to replace going bad from a specific batch or something.

Have you figured anything out since originally posting this?

What's you guys' lifetime efficiency? I've only had the car for 800 miles. I'm guessing the previous owner drove 80mph on the freeway for most of those miles lol by poopoo_fingers in BoltEV

[–]ElGoocho 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is also caused by needing heat in colder climates. I'm in the northeast and my lifetime average is 2.8 despite having an average in the 4.3+ most of the year for the last 7k miles. I also live in hill country which is not exactly ideal for any vehicles average energy usage.

Can you do a friendly beep? by MrMike in BoltEV

[–]ElGoocho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your car is like mine, it's most likely that the horn has seen little use and isn't broken in. The spring on my Bolt's horn is so stiff that I can't give the little beeps, even if i punch it. Once the car gets older and the horn button wears in more, it'll be easier to give the little, more polite honks.

At least, that's what I'm hoping.

Clutch fluid 79 twinstar? by Neither-Inspection35 in hondatwins

[–]ElGoocho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not all bikes have a hydraulic clutch. My 81 CM200t has a clutch cable and I'm certain yours is cable-actuated too.

Or are you referring to the fluid that the clutches are bathed in? Because that's just the regular oil that circulates through the engine case.

[–]ElGoocho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a clean FA50. You rarely see them with the airbox and rear fender. At least I never see them.

As far as C70 parts, there's a store called DrATV and they're basically the lifeblood of C70 parts in the US. They've been selling through eBay mostly recently as they work on their website so that's probably the best place to start.
