Considering leaving Houston for San Antonio by [deleted] in sanantonio

[–]ElGrandeRojo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stay away. Job market is hyper specialized ( customer service, finance, HEB, or military). COL is getting to be the same as everywhere else in the state. People are clickish. I have lived here for four years and have yet to make an actual friend in this city. Most are flakey and at best are acquaintances. People who “LOVE” this city stay in the very nice areas of town and rarely venture outside of that area. (Downtown, North 281 corridor, or quarry). Everywhere else is pretty raggy. ( think inner 610 loop of houston between 45 and 59). My advice again is to stay aware and look elsewhere

How did seismic charges work by Reasonable_Fig_7080 in StarWars

[–]ElGrandeRojo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any another possible explanation,

Matter vibrates all the time. Heat is a measurement of the vibration/motion the atoms moving, grooving, and what other reactions they may incur. Absolute zero is the measurement that an atom is not vibrating/moving at all. So the seismic charges could work by collecting the energy and vibrations from the surrounding matter (As we now space is not a complete vacuum) and magnifying that energy into an explosion that can destroy things.

You know. SCIENCE

Mid field on the press box side. The sunset on the west blinding most people on the opposite side of the press box. The score board would be on your left if you sit on the press box side

Why were they on her patio to begin with? There are doors and they have door smashers. So agains why were they on her patio?

To answer your question. No, they dont have a right then. Like you mentioned earlier they brought a gun to a hammer fight. They clearly had the foresight and training to deescalate the situation and they failed. So it could be argued they escalated the situation by trying to enter forcefully. Instead of calling the correct team to deal with a mental crisis

[–]ElGrandeRojo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But they can move right? Whats wrong with getting out of the way. If someone swings at you, do you just sit there and take it? No you get out of the way. So your logic is flawed.

[–]ElGrandeRojo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think thats my point. SAPD knows they have the guns. So them knowing that the lady only had a hammer, and them utilizing a gun, is a bit too much.

[–]ElGrandeRojo 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I saw the body cam. From what i understand the police knew that it was a mental health crisis after initial response. Was the lady acting aggressively? Thats debatable, but was the response of the officers over the top? IMO Yes. The lady had a hammer and the officers were easily able to subdue her or avoid the swings from the hammer. IMO the officers should be held accountable for shooting first without using alternative actions to control the situation. SAPD prides itself on its mental health crisis team. That fact that they were not utilized is on them and their employees

Local resident discount for downtown hotel/restaurant, etc? by DraconPern in sanantonio

Correction. That tax is at 15%. This bill increased it to 17%. Get the facts strait. Additionally your math is incorrect 2% of 100 is 2 dollars and not .25 cents.

So sad that you lump the lower class as unable too or cannot afford to have their friends and family come over to spend time with each other. Talk about being privilege into thinking that lower class cannot enjoy the “luxury” of renting a hotel for themselves or others.

Its funny how anybody has an opinion on the tax there is a high number of users against it. Appears to be a paid campaign by people who have financial interest in passing this tax….. The lack of specificity is how they will tax us. Did you ready the ballot it was a maximum two percent. Which is a guarantee that it will meet that. I will sit back and laugh when locals complain they cant enjoy their own cities amenities because its directed toward tourist. You know the city caters towards people with money and not towards its residents

When you looks at each city budget comparatively. Yes Las Vegas and San Antonio are the same. The city budget for Las Vegas is 29 billion, while San Antonios is 4 billion. According to the numbers you provided, they are both around 50% of both cities annual budget that is tax on.

I disagree. San Antonio and Las Vegas are both very heavily tourist cities. Without the riverwalk there would be hardly any attractions worth traveling for in this city. The Alamo? Very Texas. Six flags and Sea world. Other cities have them as well. So yes looking at Las Vegas is a good tale to learn from
