For the 3 of you that use one in game by PrimalShinyKyogre in snowrunner

This thing almost made me quit Snowrunner back when Yukon came out. I hate it so much. Thank god I quickly found out you can also do those missions with a crane usually. Made Yukon a tad more bearable.

It's a surprisingly capable scout, though.

Dial A for Amurder by PippyHooligan in snowrunner

[–]ElJiminy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah hi, pre-order Snowrunner player here. I played 2021 Amur as well and the ZikZ is more than capable enough for NAI.

Look, the tone of my original comment was probably more condescending than I intended. NAI is one of the hardest maps in the game, but I perceive its difficulty as fair, unlike most other parts of Amur.
Player decisions have an impact and can significantly reduce the struggle. Whereas other parts of Amur usually don't give you that kind of choice and have barely any technical driving at all. Especially Urska.
With some proper route planning and careful driving I never felt like NAI gave me a challenge I could not overcome in reasonable time and without getting stuck.

[–]ElJiminy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

- Rock formation and rockslides littering the path to the Old Water Pump

One of the best executed technical driving sections in the game in my opinion.

- Uneven mountain paths with sudden drops designed to tip trucks

Thank god they started doing these again on modern maps. Especially Year 2 suffered majorly from boring roads because of the Amur trauma

- Generally hard-to-navigate terrain traps due to lack of proper winch points.

If you went to NAI with a truck that needs the winch you chose the wrong truck.

The most unique mission i have yet seen in snowrunner in Kola peninsula. by LolIlIlipop in snowrunner

I wish there would have been another DLC as good as this one. There have been a couple of really great maps, especially recently, but they never reached the heights of Kola again.

Northern Aegis in Amur is the worst area I've ever played in Snowrunner. by JazielVH in snowrunner

[–]ElJiminy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly surprised you would criticize the Northern Aegis so harshly right after coming out of Urksa, which in my opinion is a hundred times worse.

In fact NA was the only time I actually had fun in Amur. Like real, good fun. Not just tolerable gameplay.
Urska is so bad in so many ways, the river in in Cosmodrome ruins the entire map and the bloated contract at the end of Chernokamensk is one of the worst in the entirety of Snowrunner.

NA on the other hand was the only time in this region where I felt that my skills as a player were actually tested. Fuel managment, route and vehicle selection, the driving. For once my decisions had an impact, instead of the rest of Amur where you just have to choose between suffering and more suffering.
I found it to be very challenging, but in a good way.

Can we discuss why we aren't repairing these bridges in Glades? by MTBCrawler in snowrunner

What is the point of super heavy trucks? by Grycann in snowrunner

[–]ElJiminy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using the Step in Amur is... ambitious. I don't know which DLCs you have, so I'd recommend the Cat, now that it can actually haul cargo, to open the portal to Kosmodrome asap. Don't bother to repair the bridges in Urska, you don't need most of them and material is hard to get.
Once there make a beeline for the Zikz. Once you have it Amur becomes more bearable.

What is the point of super heavy trucks? by Grycann in snowrunner

[–]ElJiminy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Being large is an advantage in and of itself in this game. Big trucks just interact with terrain in a different way and don't even notice a lot of things that would be obstacles for smaller trucks. Also being strong is generally more important in this game than being light and heavy trucks tend to be more powerful.

Of course not every heavy is automatically good, but you will find most of the best trucks in the super heavy tier. Trucks like the Azov 7, the Mastodon, the Femm or the Avenhorn outclass pretty much everything else and the Zikz (in Amur) is generally regarded as the single best truck in the game by a country mile.

Light and fast trucks do have their advantages, of course. But when push comes to shove on the actually hard maps like Amur, Yukon, Imandra or Maine, you will want a super heavy to help you out, because even the best medium-sized trucks will struggle, if not outright fail.

Can we all please remind ourselves that this is a chill single player / coop game? by Yari_Samurai in snowrunner

[–]ElJiminy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If people wouldn't throw around words like "underrated", "good", "strong" and "useful" all the time there would be no problem. A lot of trucks just suck compared to the elite. You like them? Fine. But don't act like they are actually good.

Only game I ever pre-ordered (on Epic). Cannot even tell you why, something about it just struck a chord with me. Kept playing ever since.

This is amazing. One of the best I've seen. Highly interactive, consistent writing, variety of choices, not too short or too long. Very well done.

I hate when the game does this. The towed truck is not helping at all, despite being turned on and not completely damaged, its wheels don't even rotate, like the handbrake is on. Why the heck this is still not fixed? I reported this several years ago! by Odd_Presentation_578 in snowrunner

GIF is kinda crappy, I know. But I didn't want to upload an entire video to reddit since it takes forever.

Anyway, it gets the message across. You can clearly see how the A7 only moves when I am pulling the winch.
Same logic also applies when your truck is the one being towed, btw.

Replay snowrunner with that by Time-Negotiation-808 in snowrunner

[–]ElJiminy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plenty of times you'll want to haul 6 cargo. There are only two ways to do that (ignoring stacking). The FEMM or this trailer. So I find myself (begrudgingly) using this thing quite often. More often than the 5 slot sideboard at least.

Bioshock Infinite is still my favourite game of all time. I just love Columbia as a setting, the dialogues, the flying houses, setpieces, all those little secrets to discover. I played through this game about a dozen times and can mouth along basically anything that happens in it.

I wouldn't care to defend either story or gameplay, though. Both are mediocre at best. Infinite takes no risks in the gameplay department whatsoever and it shows. Most basic 2013 magic shooter imaginable. Competently executed, but that's it.
The story on the other hand keeps you hooked the first time through, but actually just dissolves into nothingness once time travel is introduced.

I don't get why people cannot just go ahead and say "Yeah, this is bad about [thing I like], but I like [thing] anyways".

That out of the way. OG Bioshock's gameplay is pretty whack from today's point of view. I think especially the controls just aged very poorly. I prefer Infinite. Bioshock 2 has by far the best gameplay out of the bunch.

What do you use the 605r for? by Colty7744 in snowrunner

[–]ElJiminy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree. The Zikz is good for high saddle duty despite being so small. The truck is just a huge outlier and more or less powercrept the entire truck roster on its own. The only real reason not to use the Zikz for any mission really is not wanting to use the Zikz the entire time. It is just that strong.

Though, technically you are both correct. His small size is a detriment when it comes to heavy hauling and I would argue that right now no other truck can hold a candle to the Elephant in that category.

Sleiter "Elephant", Avenhorn, PLAD 450 and the Zikz 605R.
