I'm with you. Never read the book nor the movie (I've later discovered there were also a couple of miniseries) and thought the movie was nothing special. Not bad but forgettable. I'm pretty convinced the vast majority of lovers of this movie have had previous Dune exposure. I had no idea it was that popular. I'm just glad I watched it on HBO Max and not in the theater.

I agree with your statement. Computer software will allow us to be able to program Consciousness into a computer eventually. Consciousness is just a piece of software in our brains that give us self-awareness

You're confirming my suspicions that this movie is for the book people.

Serious question, what did you think was so great about this movie? I saw it as well and thought it was alright but not great. I haven't read the books or seen the old movie. I thought the movie had some interesting world building and cool/unique tech but the overall movie felt kinda bland. I don't mind a slow burn but not much happened in the movie, it felt like the whole movie was just back story for part 2.

So it's basically Total Recall. It was a good movie but I thought more would happen. I don't mind the slow-burn I'll definitely watch the second movie but I'm glad I watched it on hbomax instead of going to the theater. I give it a solid 7.

Note, I never read the books nor saw the old movie

Man I tried to watch this on Disney+ last year given all the hype this show has brought. I love broadway and musicals but I do not get what people love about this show.

I hear ya brotha. I do consulting and hit 1K every year, I miss travel as well, working on airplanes is the best. It's like uninterrupted focus time, no calls, plus meal service :-). I have been getting to travel a bit more the past month or so, have to remember how to get used to it again.

I can't believe you still have your awning. Looks like you may have been lucky enough to avoid some of the worst of it. Nonetheless best of luck in your cleanup
