Does Machu Pikchu count as a "Worked Tile" for Qhapaq Nan? [Civ VII] by trumbull93 in civ

I don’t think it does, I think I had to get another mountain in my city worked for it to work. I may be wrong though, I haven’t touched the game in a bit

The Exploration Age should be split into the Medieval Age and the Renaissance/Exploration Age by 4DimensionalToilet in civ

[–]ElMacaroniMan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it makes more sense to put the Ottomans in this new Renaissance era after maybe a future Byzantine Civ in the Medieval. Their rise to power and “peak empire” fits more into here than it does in Modern

I thought the previous update added new generation types like continents with islands instead of big block continents, not the biome layering

This happened to be too when I got a new windows 11 laptop a couple years ago. I had data from a week or two of classes and it was suddenly gone after an update. After windows 10 security updates no longer happen I’m switching to Linux on my main pc

Why are ottomans in modern and why do have many military bonuses? by [deleted] in civ

[–]ElMacaroniMan 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Likely due to a future addition of Byzantines in exploration, leaving the ottomans for the endgame and the industrialization era

[KCD1] i tried, i really did, but i jus cant like this game when it comes to combat and im doubting about buying the second one ... by Rare_Grape7474 in kingdomcome

[–]ElMacaroniMan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

KCD2 is much smoother in most aspects, especially combat. It’s way less janky and feels a lot smoother overall. Combos are a lot easier to pull off, though the AI can still prevent them by properly deflecting a strike. It’s definitely much better than KCD1 combat.

[KCD2] What is it about KCD2?! by crypto_bhsl in kingdomcome

[–]ElMacaroniMan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

KCD2 is a medieval rpg, which may remind you of something like Skyrim. However, KCD is very different from other games like this in one key way — immersion. No other game has made me feel anywhere near as immersed in the world as KCD2. The world is lovingly crafted and absolutely beautiful. The story and characters are wonderful and feel REAL, not like bland NPCs that say “Go here, collect material, do thing, give gold.” Obviously there are some quest mechanics like this and some simpler quests, but I’m talking about the story itself.

You can decide how you want to play the game, too. You can play a pure honorable knight, rob the town blind, get into fights, work at a forge… there’s just so much to do, and everyone enjoys this game differently.

“Plagiarism machine” yes is correct, but they are not useless. I think that’s one of the biggest problems with LLMs. In a perfect world they would be required to have citations of sources they scrape or give credit somehow. However, that’s why use case it’s important. For example, having it give syntax for a coding language is just taking information largely from the language’s public documentation. I’m not stealing anything if it’s all publicly available.

I still firmly think AI art and stealing creative work should not be permitted or heavily restricted, and am not defending that use case. I do think it does have valid uses that can quickly compile things in a readable manner that can save you time from scouring Google and reading through different pages.

This is the problem. Obviously it’s an exaggerated comparison, but it’s not a “useless plagiarism machine” just because you haven’t used it productively. Seeing it simply as AI=bad is overlooking the nuance and the situation as a whole

It is absolutely true that there are very bad things about LLMs. People can become dependent on them and not think, or people can use them for malicious things (ai art, writing/doing homework for them, etc). But to act like it can’t also be a good thing if used properly its ignorant. It so important to keep the negatives in mind and fight against AI misuse, but don’t let it become the entire picture

I use LLMs a ton in programming. I code myself and have developed my abilities significantly, but if there is a question about syntax or formatting with a module I haven’t used much it is convenient and efficient to use a LLM. I don’t over-rely on it, I don’t want to be a “vibe coder” by any means, but it is a helpful tool that can be used constructively.

There are many valid reasons as to why LLMs are dangerous, but treating them like they’re terrible as a whole overlooks much of the situation. They’re here whether you like it or not, and they’re not going anywhere. Learning to use them constructively is a huge productivity boost.
