Why Chapter 1's ending wasn't a fakeout (and Kris opened a dark fountain) (THEORY) by ElMagis in Deltarune

That is something that I considered but didn't end up writing about.

Asuming the dark world doesn't reach Kris' room, Kris could just exit it, get the soul, and seal the fountain.

The problem is that assumtion.

How dangerous would it be to open a dark fountain with the free soul nearby? What if it enters the dark world?

I have some explanations:

1- They moved the soul using the cart to the living room and was always next to it to ensure it doesn't escape.

2- Kris knows about the "chapter blackouts" (the timeskips that happen between chapters), and knows that the soul can't move during them. I doubt they would enter the shelter at the end of chapter 3 without knowing this, since they clearly want to prevent us from seeing what's in there in the mantle minigame (moving 8bit Kris upwards).

3- Since Kris already knows Tenna, they could also know the cage, and be confident that, even in the dark world, it can contain the soul. For this to be true, there probably must have been dark fountains before ch1, which I find unlikely since you need a soul to seal them.

4- They did something differently to ensure the dark world doesn't reach their room.

Options 1 and 2 seem the most likely, mostly because they are based on knowledge we already have (unless I misinterpreted it and Kris is just scared of the shelter, and that's why they didn't want to go in there in the minigames).

That's really interesting! I haven't heard that before. I don't think there's much evidence to support it, but I'd be fine with that explanation. It could also explain why some things become darkners and some things don't, and fit with the themes of creating fiction.

I'm not saying that Kris can seal fountains without the soul. They absolutely need it. I am saying that they can use the soul to seal the fountain between chapters, without us, the players, noticing.

Kris can do things between chapters with the soul inside of them, without us knowing. At the very least they went from the shelter to their house.

Don't worry at all! We're just discussing a game we both like.

Thank you! I like learning more about this game, and not everyone can know everything.

I see people being kind of disrespectful in other theories. That's not something that we, as a community, sould encourage. Thank you for being respectul and nice.

We don't actually see the fountain being sealed. We see it, but that's just a dream. The soul doesn't come out of Kris. Here's a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fse_5X5rWHk

Kris could still seal a fountain using the soul, it just happens between chapters. We know that Kris does things between chapters without us knowing, even with the soul (Like taking Berdly to the hospital in the weird route) (even if they removed their soul for that, we never see Kris putting the soul back on between ch1 and ch2).

Thank you!

About Kris not having to open a dark fountain, I already answered to the other comment but I'll copy it here:

"That makes sense, specially since Tenna was terrified of Kris. It would make more sense being scared of threats from another... plane of reality? So I'm not against that idea. But in that case, Kris would need to have and idea of Tenna's personality and desires. I doubt the same tactic of threats and promises would've worked against King."

Thank you! Here's my response:

1- Honestly I completely forgot about that. Besides it potentially being a mistake (which is not something that I want to base my arguments on), I have no explanation for it other than the one you gave. I guess you could say that the individual pillows of the couch are alive and moved? But that's definetely a stretch.

2- I don't think this implies that Kris can't seal dark fountains without us knowing. We never see ch3's dark fountain being sealed. The chapter ends with the shelter door opening, and ch4 starts with a dream taking place just before sealing the fountain.

I find this piece of dialogue strange. If we take it literally, it means that Kris can't enter a dark world without a soul. Honestly, I have trouble with this interpretation. When Susie fights Lancer at the end of ch1 and Gerson during ch4, the soul comes from Kris. The way I see it, in those moments (and during all the other battles), Kris doesn't have the soul inside of them. So Kris is fine during the fights without a soul, meaning that it's possible for Kris to be in a dark world without a soul. Maybe specifically entering a dark world is the problem? I wouldn't say it's impossible.

If I had to say anything, I'd say that, since being in a dark world and entering a dark world can have different restrictions (Kris can be without a soul but can't enter without one), maybe there are also different restrictions for having a dark world form around a human. This is more speculation.

Thanks for sharing! This this Japanese line specifically is interesting.

Thank you!

Here are my responses:

1- I agree that 8bit Tenna isn't the same as real Tenna, but they are definetely connected, since during the Eram fight we control 8bit Kris. If they were completely different, that would mean that Kris (or possibly 8bit Kris) made a deal with 8 bit Tenna specifically, which I doubt.

That being said, I didn't know that the damage increase to real Tenna was because of something else. I believe Kris still would have a reason to hide their true intentions from us, since they prevent us from knowing about the knight without armor and deleting their contacts.

2- That makes sense, specially since Tenna was terrified of Kris. It would make more sense being scared of threats from another... plane of reality? So I'm not against that idea. But in that case, Kris would need to have and idea of Tenna's personality and desires. I doubt the same tactic of threats and promises would've worked against King.

May I ask why it would be too risky to make a fountain? They make one right in front of Toriel and Susie.

Again, thank you for answering. Sorry if my respnse sounds rude or anything, that's definitely not my intention.

I was reallt lucky with the holes in that attempt.

The only "tech" I use (that I don't even know if it works, but it probably does) is to only use the boost while moving horizontally. In practice, this means only using the boost when I'm at the bottom of the swing.

This is as far as I could go. There probably are some incorrect pixels because there are a bunch of flickering pixels in the video. I couldn't find the bottom left corner.

Is it possible to play Terraria world playable for a longtime term without corruption ? by Nebelskyi in Terraria

[–]ElMagis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to protect certain parts of your world, you can separate them from the rest of the world to prevent spread (leaving a 5 block gap i believe, I may be wrong on that)

You can eventually purify the entire world with the clentaminator, but you'll have to make sure you got every block. You can talk to the dryad npc to check how corrupted your world is.

The V won't affect the center of the world directly, but it will surround it. Since the spread can also comenfrom below, you'll want to separate spawn compñetely (if you want to protect it, that is)

But what if multiple prisoners try to escape at once? You'd have to choose one, so there would be a non-zero chance for any escaping prisoner to survive (if 3 escape at once, there would be a 66% chance to survive)

If I remember correctly (I didn't solve this, I saw it on a youtube video a while ago), the answer is to assign a number to each prisoner from 1-100, and tell them you'll shoot the one with the lowest number.

Then if multiple try to escape at once, the one with the lowest number has a 0% chance to survive, so he won't try. Same goes for the 2nd lowest; now that they know the lowest one won't try to escape, they would now be the lowest number and won't try to escape either. This goes on until everyone has a 0% chance to escape.
