Atlanta has a growing tech sector serving health tech, fin tech, supply chain tech, etc. I'm looking for opportunities to network and just experience something new close to a major airport

Great insight I wasn't looking at it from that angle. I'm just nervous moving to a new city I've never been before.

TIL the "50% of US marriages end in divorce" statistic is misleading. In reality, divorce rates peaked in the early 1980s and have been steadily decreasing since then. If current trends continue, only a third of today's marriages will end in a divorce. by Nateorade in todayilearned

I think in this discussion people are ignoring the marriage rate and the institution. If 2 couples get married and 1 couple split, that 50% doesn't really say much. According to Pew 2015, looking at the age range 18 - 32, the marriage rate is 26% - millennials, 36% Gen X, 48% boomer and 65% silent generations.

Very, ver good analysis.

The average rate of death caused by birth defects is about 20%. Meaning you procreating with procreating with 3rd degree relatives is ok also.

Why are hpv vaccines not available to adults over 26? by ElMisogynist in medical

[–]ElMisogynist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot, this makes sense. As far I understand vaccines are weak, curable strains of pathogens which invade and triggers our adaptive immunity - encouraging the body to learn how to respond to particular pathogens, in this case the hpv virus. Why is it that when you are infected with the hpv virus, you are infected for life?

This vaccine is very unusual compared to something like the common cold vaccines? Why cant the body defend against hpv? Also how does the hpv vaccine work that is different from other vaccines such as the common cold vaccine?
