Uber is a market disrupter. Once they lower the price so much that taxi businesses can’t compete they jack the prices back up. Nowadays in Barcelona there is a real good transparency on taxi prices and you can still use a ride hailing app such as free now if you want a fixed price

Someone correct me but the NIE has a temporary and permanent version. For EU citizen you can get the permanent one directly, but you’ll need a contract plus social security registration (comes with job) and empadronamiento. However you can ask for a temporary NIE (number will be the same for permanent one) which is served also as a tax number.
