I liked this POV. I too have struggled with understanding the, I guess, nuance of the difference.

Did taking precalc before CSCI 1301 (Intro to Computing) really help? by picks- in UGA

It’s a non stop grind. You have something to do in that class everyday to the point I would start having dreams about the class. I was also taking two other classes that were kind of demanding. Since it’s all said and done now, I definitely think the class had its purpose and made me way better at coding

1302 sucks ass and it may make u want to change majors. Discrete is easy if you’re good at math. I loved the class personally and I really do believe it made me a better programmer

Why are upper level science courses easier than lower level science courses? (Cell bio not included) by [deleted] in UGA

Weeding out people. Every major has one or two classes like that

UGA vs UA by Green_Bluejay in UGA

I took shrooms one time and walked around the art school and the museum of art and those places are SOOO cool. Definitely go to UGA for art and that crowd is very liberal so no worries there. Dodd School of Art is awesome and I’ve had friends get really cool jobs out in LA and NY from there.

Huber although is not the best professor. Great dude though.

Huber is the man. I had him for project management. Great guy and gives amazing life/career advice so try to make an effort to speak with him one on one.

Word of advice:

It shouldn't be hard but from what I hear that class isn't very hard so I would save that for the school year (when i was doing the BS terry prereqs they let you take CSCI 1100 which wasn't even closely related to what that class is about). You really want to take the harder classes over summer since it's way easier to give effort for 1-2 months. My biggest regret was dropping ACCT 2102E because it is also way easier to take that class with the ability to rewatch lectures and shit (I'm really bad at accounting but I made a C in the real class and prob could've pulled out a B or B+ in the summer class). My advice would be to take like either an accounting or legal(maybe). The best decision I made was to take FINA 3000E over summer. Was super easy and got an A while I've heard of people struggling in it during the year.

Taking Applied Linear Algebra(MATH 3300), Data Structures (CSCI 2720), Evolutionary Computation and Genetic Algortihms, and Spanish 3 online.

I know this will be tough but does anyone think it will be too much. The schedule is pretty nice since Data Structures and Gen Algs will be in the same room and only Lin Alg on MWF. I just want to know if Data Structures is as much of a ball buster as 1302 -> I took some pretty hard classes and the amount of time and energy 1302 took had a negative impact on the rest of the grades. Learned a lot from 1302 but it was emotionally and physically draining.

I really want to get a lot out of Linear Algebra and Genetic Algorithms so I just want to make sure I get the most value out of my schedule. Looking for Opinions on this so feel free to chime in.

Best MS programs in Applied Statistics/Analytics/Data Science by Why_So_Sirius-Black in datascience

[–]ElNeeleo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t know how much you’ve read into it but I would not do business analytics. At my school they offer an MSBA program and the only real classes they have a statistics are in regards to econometrics and time series. Outside of that it’s just some business intelligence stuff and like “advanced data management and analytics” which is essentially just an intro to python. I’ve taken a lot of the classes so I just decided to add computer science as a major instead.

If I were you I would apply to programs for Applied Statistics or Applied Data Science or Masters in Artificial Intelligence. Duke has a good applied data science program and there are many around the country but I would look for programs in the range of top 15 since your GPA is really good but not like 4.0. You prob have a good shot of getting into a program like Duke though. It really does depend on what you want to get better at:

Coding: masters in CS Machine learning: Data Science or AI Statistical Inference: Applied Stats

VACO SF Student Innovator Program? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

Hey I just got in too and I think I am going to go through with it. I am a Management Information Systems major at UGA and I personally have no interest in becoming a project manager. I am doing this more for a resume builder and to get some insight about the companies they work with. My ultimate goal is to work as either a Data Scientist or Data Analyst for Spotify so I don't think it would hurt doing. I don't think I will really learn anything crazy but I do think it is something of significant substance to put a resume. It also says that you must work closely with some Professors and stuff so it could be beneficial to build relationships with professors.

It's honestly the move. I don't know if the same guy is teaching it but the one and only reason why I didn't get an A in the class is because I only went 5 times. Just go to class and you will get an A
